Fairway Markets - Kips Bay is Hiring! Kosher "The Shuk" Kitchen Manager Role Available!

About The Role:

Village Super Market is seeking a Kosher "Shuk" Kitchen Manager to lead the daily operations of our kosher kitchen. This role is responsible for overseeing food production, maintaining quality and food safety standards, managing inventory and supplies, supporting catering needs, and leading a team in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who is organized, dependable, and comfortable balancing production, quality, team leadership, and operational results. Experience in a kosher kitchen or working with kosher food standards is strongly preferred.

What You’ll Do:

Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, production planning, workflow, and team assignments.
Place orders for ingredients and food supplies, ensuring items are sourced from approved vendors and meet required standards.
Monitor inventory levels to support production needs while managing waste and controlling costs.
Supervise cooking and production processes to ensure consistency, quality, proper cooking temperatures, cooling procedures, and compliance with recipes.
Ensure proper product labeling, pricing, packaging, shelf-life dating, and quality assurance practices are followed.
Manage kitchen staff schedules to ensure proper coverage and efficient daily operations.
Track key department results, including sales, gross profit, shrink, supply costs, and other operational metrics.
Coordinate catering orders, deliveries, and communication between the kitchen, store management, and support teams.
Train, coach, and support associates to promote teamwork, accountability, safety, and strong performance.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized kitchen environment in compliance with food safety and sanitation standards

What We’re Looking For:

At least 2 years of experience in a kitchen leadership role.
Experience managing kitchen staff, production planning, inventory, and cost control.
Strong understanding of food safety, sanitation, quality standards, and kitchen operations.
Ability to lead, coach, and motivate a diverse team in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with store leadership, vendors, associates, and support partners.
Comfortable working in hot, cold, refrigerated, and active production areas.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
Flexible availability, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and holidays based on business needs.
Kosher kitchen experience is strongly preferred.
