Full Job Description

Trinity First Lutheran School is seeking a detail oriented, part-time Bookkeeper to join our team as we seek to provide a Christ - centered education to our approximate 130 Age 3 - Grade 8 students at the school's location in South Minneapolis. This position allows for the majority of its time to be working remote and to average 20 hours per week. The Bookkeeper is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records of the school utilizing QuickBooks. The position reports directly to the Principal.

Responsibilities:

Maintain and update the general ledger using QuickBooks software.
Perform bank reconciliations and ensure all accounts are accurately balanced and reconciled regularly.
Record donations, parent payments and other cash collections into the financial records.
Ensure that vendors are paid on a timely basis and that the transactions are recorded properly into the financial records.
Process our semi-monthly payroll for 30 full and part-time employees.
Prepare financial reports and related analysis on a monthly basis.
Work with outside vendors to ensure that employee benefits such as health insurance and savings plans are handled properly. Communicate with employees on benefit and other payroll matters.
Assist with bringing on new employees through payroll and benefit on-boarding and initiating pre-employment background checks.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent; previous job experience and a strong understanding of bookkeeping principles and practices is required.
Proficiency in accounting software; QuickBooks experience is strongly preferred .
Familiarity in a non-profit accounting environment is a plus.
Experience in utilizing Microsoft Excel and Word.
Knowledge of accounts payable, cash receipts processing and payroll processing.
Ability to perform detailed account analysis and prepare financial reports.
Ability to work with minimal supervision.
Strong grasp of financial concepts such as reconciliations, journal entries and debits & credits.

Pay: $24.00 - $30.00 per hour
