Full Job Description

We are hiring a QC Supervisor to own quality control across our Canton, NC manufacturing facility — and to own something most QC roles don't: our relationships with testing laboratories across the country.

Read this part carefully, because it is the job.

Every product we make gets tested. Testing requirements change constantly and vary by state. Our ability to ship product, launch into new markets, and serve our private label partners depends almost entirely on whether testing moves quickly and correctly. That depends on one person: this one.

We need someone who labs actually want to help. Someone who has built the kind of working relationships where a phone call gets a sample prioritized. Someone who, when a state changes its panel requirements, has already found and qualified a lab that can run it before anyone else in the building knows there's a problem.

This is a technical job that lives or dies on communication and hustle.

What You'll Own

The lab network

Be the single point of contact and relationship owner for every testing lab we use
Manage turnaround expectations, pricing, and escalation paths with each lab partner
Track lab performance and hold partners to what they committed to
Proactively find, vet, and qualify new labs as regulations and market needs change
Make sure no single lab is ever a single point of failure

The testing pipeline

Run the full cycle: sample pull, documentation, submission, tracking, result review, release
Spot bottlenecks before they cost us a ship date
Push expedites through when the business needs them

Regulatory awareness

Track federal and state testing requirements everywhere we ship
Translate rule changes into concrete panel, lab, and documentation requirements
Solve new requirements before they become blockers

The people and the process

Lead, train, and develop our QC technicians
Maintain QC independence and the authority to hold product
Own QC SOPs, batch release documentation, COA management, and month-end audits
Keep QC transactions accurate and real-time in our MRP system

The stakeholders

Work directly with Production and Packaging on holds, releases, and QC checkpoints
Keep Sales informed on testing status and realistic timelines — before they ask
Support private label partners with their specific testing and documentation requirements

What We're Actually Looking For

We can teach you our products. We cannot teach you these:

You are personable. You build real relationships with external partners, and those relationships get you results other people can't get.
You are fast without being sloppy. Detail-oriented and efficient are not opposites here. We need both.
You self-prioritize. Requests will come at you from Production, Sales, Partnerships, and Compliance at the same time, all urgent. You triage, you decide, you communicate the tradeoff, you move. You do not wait to be told what matters most.
You find answers. When something breaks or a rule changes, you research it, solve it, and bring a recommendation — not just a problem.
You communicate in both directions. You can talk methodology with a lab chemist and timelines with a salesperson, and both walk away clear.
You are organized. You track dozens of open submissions across multiple labs without dropping any of them.

Requirements

3+ years in a QC role in a manufacturing or production environment
At least 1 year leading or supervising a team
Direct experience managing external vendor or laboratory relationships — not just submitting samples, but owning the relationship
Experience with COA management, batch traceability, and release documentation
Experience with an ERP/MRP or inventory system (Katana, Cin7, NetSuite, or similar)
Strong written and verbal communication
Comfortable with cGMP practices and clean hygiene standards
Must be able to work on-site in Canton, NC every scheduled day. This role is not remote or hybrid.
Must be 21 or older

Nice to have:

Working knowledge of QC in the cannabis/hemp industry (potency, pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, microbials)
Experience sourcing and qualifying new testing labs
Experience supporting private label or contract manufacturing partners
Background in another GMP-regulated industry (food, supplement, pharmaceutical)
