Job Summary

Join our dynamic team as an Ophthalmic Technician/Scribe, where you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care and ensuring smooth clinical operations. This energetic position combines direct patient interaction with technical proficiency, supporting optometrists in diagnostic procedures and documentation. You will be responsible for assisting with ophthalmic examinations, managing electronic health records, and maintaining a welcoming environment for patients. Duties

Prepare patients for ophthalmic examinations by obtaining vital signs, medical history, and conducting intake assessments
Assist ophthalmologists during eye exams by operating diagnostic equipment such as A-scan biometry, tonometry devices, and ophthalmic imaging tools
Perform ophthalmic procedures including eye refraction, visual acuity testing, and basic diagnostic imaging while adhering to aseptic techniques
Document clinical findings accurately in electronic health records (EHR/Epic systems) and ensure compliance with HIPAA and confidentiality policies
Support patient service efforts by providing clear instructions, answering questions, and maintaining a compassionate demeanor throughout their visit
Manage medical records, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding and billing processes when necessary
Maintain clinical equipment and supplies, ensuring proper sterilization and functionality of ophthalmic diagnostic tools

Requirements

Prior experience in a medical office setting or clinic environment, preferably within ophthalmology or optometry
Knowledge of medical terminology related to eye anatomy, physiology, and ophthalmic diagnostics
Familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or similar platforms for managing electronic health records
Ability to operate ophthalmic diagnostic equipment including tonometers, A-scan biometry devices, and imaging systems
Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality at all times
Excellent patient service skills with a focus on direct patient care and effective communication
Basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology relevant to eye health; experience with optical or retail sales is a plus but not required
Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment while adhering to clinical confidentiality policies
