Overview
Become a part of our incredible Human Resources team as an HR Generalist and spearhead our newest entity's success! In this essential role, you will cultivate human capital management initiatives, foster positive employee relations, and support Administrative and HR processes to grow our workforce. Your strategic mindset and hands-on approach will implement and regulate compliance initiatives, employment laws, enhance talent management practices, and promote a thriving workplace culture. To be successful as a Human Resource Generalist, candidates should be an experienced professional; well versed in human capital management, employment law, and the development of skilled workforce. Candidates must excel at verbal and written communication.
The Human Resource Generalist must have a genuine desire to support the needs of others as they balance the needs of the company.
The Human Resources Generalist will report to the VP of Human Resource.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and manage the full employee lifecycle including onboarding, pre-employment screening, new hire documentation, and orientation, ensuring alignment with company practices.
- Partner with hiring managers to support full-cycle recruitment for facility, including job postings, candidate screening, interview coordination, and offer administration.
- Maintain accurate and compliant employee records within the HRIS (e.g., ISolved/Paragon), including Metrc tracking, job classifications, pay rates, and personnel file documentation in accordance with legal requirements.
- Assist in administration and support of a full range of employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life, AD&D, PTO, and 401(k); ensure accurate enrollment, maintenance, and compliance.
- Provide employee relations support by conducting or assisting with workplace investigations, documenting findings, and supporting disciplinary actions up to and including termination, ensuring compliance with company policy and union requirements.
- Administer and manage employee leaves of absence, including FMLA, State Paid Leave (PLO), FLA (as applicable), ADA accommodations, and short-term disability.
- Administer compliance-related programs such as random drug testing, background checks, regulatory postings, and required reporting.
- Plan and support employee engagement initiatives, including recognition programs, events, and communication efforts that foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture across diverse operational environments.
Accounting Team Support:
- Deposit all incoming checks
- Log all incoming payments by ACH.
- Back up support for Account Receivables. Record all payments from customers as they are received, inform the AR department and sales teams of incoming payments.
- Attend weekly accounting meetings – Finance & Code Check Meetings
- Record/reconcile all receipts to AP ensuring proper accounting codes are used.
- Process all invoices with the Chief Revenue Officer’s review and approval and reconcile AP monthly.
- Log all signed invoices, scan and upload signed copy.
- Update contact information on venders and request W9s, correct address and payment information.
- Assist accounting team with 1099 process during year-end.
Administrative Support:
- Direct point of contact for all internal and external employees/clients/vendors/visitors.
- Answer phone calls, greet visitors and direct any incoming freight.
- Occasionally send packages and certified letters at local postal service.
- Scan and upload all visitor logs monthly
- Organize any facility events- parties, picnics, lunches, benefit roll outs, ext.
- Submit orders of office supplies, consumables, and facility materials to the National Procurement Officer.
- Check Mail daily and route as appropriate.
Compliance Functions:
- Handle background checks for new hires. Order them through our approved provider and keep the paperwork on file.
- Issue and track worker badges/IDs and keep the restricted-area access list(s) current.
- Own the annual training calendar — make sure department leads turn in their completion logs and confirm Metrc training is done.
- Spot-check packaging and labels against our checklist. Fulfillment does the first pass before release; if something doesn't clearly pass, hold it and flag it.
- Do periodic spot-checks on security and restricted-access stuff. Department leads’ handle the routine walkthroughs in their own areas.
- Keep the on-site compliance binders and SOP files current so we're always ready for inspection.
- Prep Metrc and/or Illumify inventory reconciliations.
- Track corrective actions and inspection follow-ups until they're closed out — not just opened.
- Loop Compliance Director immediately on: Inspection findings beyond just handing over documents,label language that's not clearly compliant, product holds or stops-work calls, repeat non-compliance, or anything that needs interpreting a statute, rule, or agency guidance.
License Support:
- Complete City and State annual renewals for licensing. Staying updated on any changes to rules and regulations from the State Regulatory Agency.
- Back up support for licensing inspections.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS & QUALIFICATIONS:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty successfully.
- An associate’s degree in HR or Business-Related field is required. A bachelor’s degree is strongly preferred.
- 4+ yrs of HR experience, this includes leave management experience
- HR Certification (SHRM CP or PHR) preferred
- Advanced PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Isolved experience is a plus
- Knowledge of HR systems and technology
- Ability to exercise sound judgment
- Knowledge of employment laws
- High integrity and confidentiality
- Strong organization & communication skills
- Flexibility and ability to work under pressure
- Team-oriented
- Advanced PC skills (Word, Excel, Outlook)
