Minimum Qualifications
Doctoral degree in Biochemistry, Biophysics, or related discipline from an accredited institution. Previous experience in academic research, teaching, and service.
Desired Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess a strong theoretical and experimental understanding of protein-protein, protein-lipid, and protein-small molecule interactions to lead fundamental cell biology investigations on regulated cell death. Essential skills include biophysical, biochemical, structural, and molecular characterizations of globular proteins, membranes, and their associations; in silico modeling of protein-protein, protein-lipid, and protein-small molecule interactions; and a keen interest to translate experimental and in silico studies in vivo.

Florida International University Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine is a national leader in integrating community-based medical education and clinical care. We are dedicated to training socially accountable physicians, scientists, and health professionals committed to serving the community. The College of Medicine is also an academic and clinical affiliate of Baptist Health and Nicklaus Children's Hospital.
The Herbert Wertheim College of Medicine at Florida International University is currently seeking a full-time, non-tenure, Assistant Professor position within the Department of Cellular and Molecular Medicine. The selected candidate will develop research hypotheses and lead innovative research projects, including data analysis and manuscript preparation for peer-reviewed journals. The candidate is expected to co-author at least two (2) high-impact articles within one (1) year and submit a minimum of two (2) grant applications annually.
Quarterly progress reports to the Department Chair are required, summarizing publications, grant activity (submitted, under review, or funded), and any patent developments. The candidate will work closely with an assigned faculty mentor to support career development and research success.
All required regulatory approvals (e.g., IRB, IBC, IACUC) must be obtained prior to initiating research, with strict adherence to scientific integrity and confidentiality in accordance with HWCOM and FIU policies. Additional responsibilities include mentoring students and trainees, contributing to a collaborative research environment, and performing other duties as assigned.
