Alvord, Baker & Associates, LLC is a unique, caring, and innovative practice founded by Drs. Mary Alvord and Patricia Baker in 1983. We specialize in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), as well as other evidence-based treatments. Our practice offers comprehensive services including therapy, psychiatry, and psychological testing options for children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families. Additional services include group therapy, parent training, and school consultations. We welcome all clients regardless of race, religion, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or gender identity.

Job Overview

Alvord, Baker & Associates is a fee-for-service, group private practice dedicated to evidence-based care, cutting-edge research, and comprehensive training. We are seeking a licensed Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist (MD/DO) or an experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join our team and help us meet the growing demand for evidence-based psychiatric evaluation and medication management for children and adolescents. Due to high client demand and lengthy waitlists across several of our locations (Capitol Hill, Chevy Chase, Columbia, and Rockville/Potomac), we're excited to announce an immediate clinical opening. Because our young clients need appointments outside of school hours, this role requires availability in the afternoons and evenings at least two days per week. This position is open to both part-time and full-time candidates.

Position Requirements

Maryland and/or DC licensure required prior to start (board certification in psychiatry, with child/adolescent subspecialty preferred, or active PMHNP-BC certification).
Must be an exclusively evidence-based practitioner — treatment recommendations and medication management must be grounded in established, evidence-based practice.
Experience working with children and adolescents across a diverse range of clinical presentations required.
Responsibilities include comprehensive psychiatric assessments and personalized medication management, with careful monitoring and collaborative decision-making, coordinated closely with therapists within (or outside of) Alvord, Baker & Associates.
Availability required in the afternoons (3pm+) and evenings, at least two days per week, to accommodate school-aged clients; additional weekend availability welcomed but not required.
