Department Description

Position Summary:

Under the direction of the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), the Human Resources Strategic Coordinator serves as a key systemic integrator supporting strategic Human Resources (HR) initiatives and operations. The incumbent of this position develops and leads HR projects, maintaining cross-divisional connections, and managing and streamlining internal and external information and communication.?The HR Strategic Coordinator synthesizes complex data into Board of Education presentations and executive slide decks, and evaluates and interprets Board policy, administrative procedures, and collective bargaining agreements.

Detailed Description

Duties and Responsibilities:

Serves as a point of contact and provides support to direct reports and departmental directors on daily operational matters, strategic planning, priorities, monitoring systems, and implementation plans;

Develops and ensures cross-functional initiatives move forward smoothly and systemic connections are maintained;
Collaborates with Chiefs, Associate Superintendents, Directors, and Principals on a broad range of issues, projects, and joint programs to build collaborative options and solutions;
Drives multi-departmental HR projects from inception through execution; establishes accountability timelines, project repositories, and monitoring mechanisms to ensure project deliverables are met;
Develops, integrates, and monitors long-range plans, implementation strategies, and performance tracking systems for initiatives supervised by the CHRO; tracks progress on strategic plan goals and enforces deadlines across HR departments;
Represents and exercises the delegated authority of office leadership in engaging and developing strategic relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
Exercises project leadership and cross-functional task authority over multi-departmental initiatives; may directly or indirectly supervise project staff or administrative support assigned to strategic projects;
Facilitates meetings and serves as a representative, as needed, on a variety of district committees, task forces, and executive working groups;
Researches and drafts Board of Education docket items, executive briefing memos, policy briefs, and formal reports for the CHRO;
Synthesizes complex HR, labor, and operational data into visual, executive-ready slide decks, talking points, agendas, and briefing materials for the CHRO and department directors;
Researches, writes, edits, and reviews executive correspondence, board responses, official memos, and public statements on behalf of the CHRO;
Provides direct support to Directors and division staff with Board of Education presentations, correspondence, and responses to parents, families, citizens, and community members, ensuring alignment with school system strategic goals;
Prepares and oversees agendas, briefing packages, and talking points for specific executive meetings, press briefings, and special district events;
Develops and refines operational dashboards and reporting systems available to the CHRO and direct reports;
Leads the divisions development, review, approval, and ongoing maintenance of administrative procedures, Board policies, internal office practices, and new or revised operational systems;
Collects and analyzes qualitative and quantitative workforce data to inform administrative decisions, policy updates, and operational best practices; and
Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

Qualifications:

Subject matter expertise in the employee lifecycle, human resources functions, public education administration, organizational development, and/or labor relations;

Working knowledge of K-12 education law, Maryland Board policies, administrative procedures, and collective bargaining/union contracts;
Advanced proficiency in project management methodologies, tracking systems, workflows, and process automation;
Exceptional writing abilities with a proven track record of converting complex data and information into executive briefs, presentations, and Board materials;
Ability to handle, manage, and oversee tasks and projects independently;
Ability to understand, interpret, and apply Prince Georges County Board of Education policies, administrative regulations, and organizational policies and procedures;
Exceptional organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail;
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to collect and interpret qualitative and quantitative data; and
Outstanding interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to build consensus and maintain confidentiality and trust.

Education and/or Experience Requirements:

Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in educational leadership, human resources, business administration, public administration, public policy, project management, organizational leadership or a closely related field required; Masters degree preferred. A minimum of five (5) years of progressive, hands-on management experience is required, preferably within human resources, organizational learning, K-12 education, higher education, government, policy, or nonprofit management.

Certification:

Project Management Professional (PMP), SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, or SPHR certification preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

May provide guidance and oversight as assigned.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 25 lbs.

Working Environment:

The work environment characteristics are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of the job.

Additional Information:

Work schedules may include evenings and weekends. Incumbent may be required to work beyond normal hours with little or no advance notice. A valid drivers license is required inasmuch as there will be a need to travel to sites throughout the school district.
