Residential Construction | Estimating | Purchasing | Scheduling | Production
We are looking for an experienced Residential Construction Estimator & Production Manager who understands what it takes to move a project from scope and estimate through purchasing, scheduling, production, and completion.
This is not just an estimating position.
We are looking for someone who can become a key part of our operational team—the person who can look at a residential construction project, understand the scope of work, accurately determine labor and material requirements, build a reliable estimate, and then help coordinate everything necessary to get the project built correctly and efficiently.
You do not need to be a master carpenter.
You do need to understand residential construction.
WHAT YOU'LL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR
You will help manage the operational side of residential construction projects, including:
- Reviewing plans, scopes of work, measurements, and project specifications
- Performing accurate material and labor takeoffs
- Preparing detailed project estimates and budgets
- Identifying materials, quantities, trades, and subcontractor requirements
- Obtaining and reviewing vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Creating purchase orders and coordinating material procurement
- Scheduling material deliveries
- Coordinating subcontractors and trade partners
- Building and maintaining production schedules
- Ensuring projects are properly prepared before production begins
- Communicating with vendors, subcontractors, field personnel, sales, and management
- Monitoring job progress, costs, timelines, and potential delays
- Identifying problems before they become expensive problems
- Assisting with change orders and scope adjustments
- Helping ensure projects are completed on time, on budget, and according to scope
- Maintaining accurate project documentation throughout the construction process
WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR
The ideal candidate has hands-on knowledge of residential construction operations and understands how the different pieces of a project come together.
You should be comfortable looking at a project and answering questions such as:
What needs to be done?
What materials do we need?
What should it cost?
Who needs to perform the work?
When does everything need to happen?
What could potentially hold up the project?
Preferred Qualifications
- 3+ years of residential construction estimating, project management, production management, or similar experience preferred
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods, materials, and sequencing
- Experience preparing estimates and material/labor takeoffs
- Experience working with suppliers, subcontractors, and field crews
- Understanding of purchasing and material procurement
- Ability to build and manage construction schedules
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple active projects and priorities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Comfortable using estimating, project-management, scheduling, and general business software
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of cost control and accountability
THIS POSITION IS NOT FOR SOMEONE WHO...
- Only knows how to enter numbers into estimating software
- Needs constant direction to determine the next step
- Has difficulty managing multiple projects or deadlines
- Doesn't understand construction sequencing
- Waits until a problem happens before addressing it
- Is uncomfortable communicating with subcontractors, suppliers, and field personnel
We need someone who thinks ahead.
If materials need to be ordered two weeks from now, you're already thinking about them today.
If one trade falling behind will affect three other trades, you're addressing it before the schedule gets disrupted.
If something doesn't look right in an estimate, scope, purchase order, or production schedule, you investigate it instead of simply passing it along.
THE PERSON WE WANT
We are looking for someone who takes ownership.
Someone who understands that successful construction management requires more than knowing how to build—it requires planning, communication, organization, cost awareness, urgency, and follow-through.
This person will work closely with ownership and management and play an important role in keeping projects moving from estimate → purchasing → scheduling → production → completion.
If you have strong residential construction knowledge and you're ready to take responsibility for making sure projects are properly estimated, organized, and executed, we want to speak with you.
Apply with your resume and a brief description of your residential construction estimating and/or production management experience.
