Job Summary

Senior Professional Fee Coding Auditor / Educator

Eclat Health Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Professional Fee Coding Auditor / Educator to support the quality and accuracy of our professional fee coding operations across multiple healthcare clients.

This position will be responsible for conducting routine and targeted audits of professional fee coders, identifying coding accuracy and compliance opportunities, providing detailed audit feedback, and partnering with coding leadership to develop and deliver coder education. The ideal candidate will have strong professional fee coding experience, a solid understanding of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, modifiers, E/M services, and payer-specific coding requirements, along with the ability to communicate findings effectively and coach coding professionals.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional fee coder, auditor, or coding educator who enjoys working across multiple client environments and wants to play a key role in maintaining coding quality and developing coding talent.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct routine, focused, and quality assurance audits of professional fee coders across multiple client accounts.
Review coded encounters for accuracy, completeness, compliance, medical necessity, appropriate code selection, modifiers, and documentation support.
Audit a variety of professional fee specialties and provider types, including physician and outpatient professional services.
Identify coding trends, recurring errors, knowledge gaps, and opportunities for process improvement.
Provide detailed, constructive feedback to individual coders based on audit findings.
Work directly with coding leadership to develop corrective action plans and targeted education.
Assist with the development and delivery of coder education, including one-on-one coaching, group training, and educational materials.
Monitor coder performance and identify trends requiring additional education or intervention.
Research and interpret official coding guidelines, CPT/HCPCS guidance, payer policies, NCCI edits, LCDs/NCDs, and other applicable coding requirements.
Assist with maintaining consistent coding standards across multiple client accounts.
Collaborate with operations, coding leadership, and client stakeholders regarding coding quality and audit results.
Prepare audit reports and communicate findings, trends, and recommendations to internal leadership.
Stay current on annual coding updates, regulatory changes, payer requirements, and industry best practices.

Required Qualifications

5+ years of professional fee/physician coding experience.
Professional fee auditing experience strongly preferred.
Strong knowledge of CPT, HCPCS, ICD-10-CM, E/M coding, modifiers, and professional fee coding guidelines.
Experience reviewing medical records and determining whether documentation supports reported services.
Strong understanding of NCCI edits, modifier application, medical necessity, LCDs/NCDs, and payer-specific requirements.
Experience identifying coding trends and providing feedback or education to coding staff.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to work independently while managing audits across multiple client accounts.
Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
Ability to research coding guidelines and clearly explain coding decisions to coders and leadership.

Preferred Certifications

One or more of the following certifications preferred:

CPC – Certified Professional Coder
CCS – Certified Coding Specialist
CPMA – Certified Professional Medical Auditor
COC – Certified Outpatient Coder
Other nationally recognized coding or auditing certification

Professional fee physician coding
Multi-specialty physician coding
E/M auditing
Surgical/procedural coding
Evaluation and Management auditing
NCCI and modifier auditing
Medical necessity review
Payer policy review
Coding education and staff development
Quality assurance and performance improvement
Experience supporting multiple healthcare organizations or client accounts
