Grants Manager

Full-Time

Reports to: Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Department: Administration

Status: Full-Time

Location: Fully Remote

Compensation: $42–$50 per hour, depending on experience, plus full benefits

ABOUT THE ROLE

Tamien Nation is seeking a detail-driven Grants Manager to lead the full lifecycle of a portfolio of federal and state grants — from identifying funding opportunities to writing winning proposals, administering awards, and ensuring compliance through closeout. Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, you will partner with Tribal leadership, program
staff, and Finance to secure funding, safeguard compliance, and advance Tamien Nation’s strategic priorities and long-term sustainability.

This is a fully remote, high-impact role for someone who thrives on organization, takes ownership of deadlines, and wants their work to directly support a sovereign Tribal Nation’s mission and growth.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Funding Strategy & Financial Oversight

Research and evaluate federal, state, tribal,
local, and private funding opportunities aligned with our strategic priorities.
Build and maintain a funding pipeline and
grant calendar to support current and future programs.
Monitor budgets, expenditures, reimbursements,
and spending variances to forecast needs and flag funding gaps early.
Review expenditures, budgets, and match
contributions for alignment with grant requirements and recommend corrective action when needed.
Prepare and submit reimbursement requests,
invoices, and financial reporting packages to grantors.

Grant Writing & Proposal Development

Lead the development, writing, and submission
of competitive grant applications and funding proposals.
Prepare narratives, budgets, work plans,
timelines, and supporting attachments.
Coordinate with program staff, consultants,
and leadership to gather what each proposal needs.
Ensure every submission accurately reflects
project goals, deliverables, budgets, and compliance requirements.

Grant Administration & Compliance

Serve as primary administrator and grantor
point of contact for awarded grants from award through closeout.
Manage grantor portals and ensure reports,
reimbursement requests, and documents are submitted accurately and on time.
Track milestones, deadlines, performance
measures, match requirements, and deliverables to stay in compliance with awardconditions.
Maintain organized grant files and records,
and facilitate monitoring activities, audits, site visits, and closeouts.
Apply internal controls consistent with
federal standards, including the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200) where federal funds are involved.
Reporting & Collaboration
Provide monthly written reports on active
grants, reimbursement status, deadlines, performance metrics, funding risks, and upcoming opportunities.
Develop internal systems, templates, and
tracking tools that make grant management more effective.
Provide technical guidance to staff on grant
requirements, deliverables, and reporting expectations.
Incorporate cultural guidance from Tribal
leadership into applications, reports, and external communications when appropriate.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING

Experience & Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration,
Public Administration, Nonprofit Management, Communications, or a related field(required).
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively
responsible experience in grant management — including research, writing,administration, compliance, reporting, reimbursement, and closeout — withnonprofit experience required.
A track record of securing and managing grants
from federal, state, tribal, local, and private funders.
Experience managing multiple concurrent grants
and preparing reimbursement requests, reports, and budgets.
Experience working with Native American
tribes, tribal organizations, or tribal communities is preferred.

Skills & Attributes

Strong grasp of grant administration,
reimbursement methodologies, allowable cost principles, and reportingobligations.
Working knowledge of federal requirements,
including the Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200), internal controls, andsingle-audit expectations.
Excellent grant writing, editing, research,
analytical, organizational, and project management skills.
Ability to independently juggle multiple
grants, deadlines, and compliance responsibilities with sound judgment.
Cultural sensitivity and a genuine commitment
to Tamien Nation’s values, confidentiality, and sovereignty.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Microsoft
Office, grant management platforms, and online grantor portals.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Salary range of $42–$50 per hour, depending on
experience.
Full-time position with a comprehensive
benefits package, including health insurance and a 401(k) retirement plan.
Fully remote work environment.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Valid state driver’s license; must pass a
background check and pre-employment screening.
Must disclose actual or potential conflicts of
interest and comply with conflict-of-interest and ethics standards.
Occasional travel and evening or weekend
availability for meetings, trainings, conferences, or tribal events.
