Position Summary
As a Bioinformatics Scientist at Renew Biotechnologies, you will be part scientist and part engineer working on both internal and external R&D and clinical projects. This will include getting your hands dirty in the data but also developing the infrastructure to automate analysis. Your work will be cross functional with teams spanning scientists, software developers, marketers, and sales professionals. Much of your work will be collaborative but will also require independence and ownership.
Essential Job Functions
- Perform standard data analysis using internally-developed and commercially available techniques.
- Actively and collaboratively promote scientific and technical innovation with other members of the department and company.
- Lead analytical pipeline development (Nextflow), data delivery, deployment to the cloud, and automation to increase capability and productivity. This will include creating new pipelines and optimizing existing pipelines.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of scientists to develop and apply computational methods.
- Develop algorithms and statistical methods that help to extract meaningful insight from rich datasets.
- Consult with and assist clients with their data analysis needs.
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Computational Biology, Biostatistics, or a similar field; combination of degree and industry experience will be considered.
- Experience with demonstrated capabilities in integrating, analyzing, and interpreting multimodal biological data in an academic and/or industry setting.
- Demonstrated experience with bioinformatic workflows such as Nextflow or Snakemake and deploying pipelines in a cloud environment.
- Fluency in Python (preferred) and/or R and data analysis libraries such as Pandas, numpy, scikit-learn or equivalents.
- Demonstrated experience working with NGS data and analysis tools.
- Deep understanding of computational approaches for analyzing high volume datasets.
- Demonstrated knowledge of molecular biology, cell biology, NGS library preparation and analysis.
- Ability to interpret and present data and other complex information.
- A high level of commitment and a track record of quality work, with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and effectively.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.

- Experience with any of the following:
- Oxford Nanopore sequencing
- Epigenetic analysis
- Building/working in a validated setting - CAP, CLIA, GCP, GMP, etc
- LIMS
- Developing applications in a cloud environment (AWS)
- LLM-accelerated development
