Full Job Description

General Purpose: Provides administrative support for correspondence, records management, public relations, Planning Commission minutes, building and special event permits, and subdivision applications. Provides management for water billing.

Hours of Work: Works Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., plus two or more evenings each month for Planning Commission and special meetings.

Example of Duties:· Is the Planning Commission secretary and composes and completes correspondence on building permits, subdivision permits, and reports.

Minimum Qualifications: Requires a high school diploma and one to two years of experience in personnel, finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Qualifications may include one (1) year of specialized support training received through a Vocational College, Business College, or in-service workshops or training programs for Municipal Clerks. Or an equivalent combination of experience and education.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of computer systems and software, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Pelorus accounting software; ability to compose correspondence and other documents; experience recording and preparing meeting minutes; effective verbal and written communication skills; knowledge of filing systems; bookkeeping skills; familiarity with municipal government operations preferred; and ability to develop effective working relationships with coworkers.
