This permanent, onsite leadership opportunity offers a full-time weekday schedule with no weekends and is ideal for an experienced hospital pharmacy leader who is passionate about medication safety, operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and team development. The Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager will play a critical role in leading inpatient pharmacy operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality medication management throughout the hospital.
The Clinical Pharmacy Operations Manager will oversee daily pharmacy operations, sterile and non-sterile compounding services, medication distribution workflows, inventory management, and pharmacy technician leadership. This individual will collaborate closely with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary clinical teams to drive operational improvements, strengthen medication safety initiatives, and maintain compliance with all state, federal, and accreditation standards. Responsibilities:
- Provide operational leadership for inpatient pharmacy services, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant medication distribution processes that support exceptional patient care
- Oversee sterile and non-sterile compounding operations by maintaining compliance with USP standards, regulatory requirements, quality assurance initiatives, and institutional safety protocols
- Lead, mentor, and develop the pharmacy technician team by providing coaching, performance management, professional development, and fostering a collaborative, high-performing work environment
- Chair the Medication Safety Committee by identifying opportunities to reduce medication errors, analyzing safety data, implementing evidence-based process improvements, and collaborating with multidisciplinary clinical teams
- Manage pharmacy operations, including medication distribution workflows, inventory management, resource utilization, operational efficiency, and continuous quality improvement initiatives while supporting organizational goals
Qualifications:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university required
- Completion of a PGY1 or PGY2 Health-System Pharmacy Administration Residency required
- Current Pharmacist license in the State of Utah or eligibility to obtain Utah pharmacist licensure prior to employment
- Minimum of 3–5 years of recent hospital pharmacy experience with progressive leadership or supervisory responsibilities required
- Demonstrated expertise in inpatient pharmacy operations, sterile compounding, USP regulations, medication safety, pharmacy compliance, and healthcare quality initiatives
- Strong understanding of hospital pharmacy workflows, medication distribution systems, inventory management, regulatory standards, accreditation requirements, and operational best practices
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, problem-solving, and relationship-building skills with a proven ability to lead teams through operational change and process improvement
- Experience collaborating with physicians, nursing leadership, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to improve patient safety, medication management, and operational performance preferred
