Full Job Description

Position Summary

We are looking for a Financial Analyst who can own the numbers that keep the business running day to day. This is not a reporting-only role. You will build and maintain the cash flow forecast, decide with leadership which vendors get paid and when, negotiate payment terms, and identify additional sources of liquidity — including borrowing capacity against properties held in affiliated entities.

The company is currently operating in a constrained construction cash flow environment. Success in this role means bringing structure, visibility, and discipline to that environment: a forecast leadership can trust, a payment plan vendors will accept, and a clear picture of where the next dollar of liquidity comes from.

You will also own our Excel reporting stack and lead the effort to integrate AI tools into finance workflows to reduce manual work and shorten reporting cycles.

Key ResponsibilitiesCash Flow Forecasting & Management

Build, maintain, and continuously improve a rolling 13-week cash flow forecast, plus longer-range 6- and 12-month projections.
Produce a daily or weekly cash position report showing available balances, committed outflows, expected receipts, and projected shortfalls.
Track forecast vs. actual variance, explain the drivers, and tighten forecast accuracy over time.
Flag projected shortfalls early — with enough runway for leadership to act, not after the fact.

Vendor Payments & Payment Plans

Prioritize and schedule vendor payments week to week against available cash, balancing critical-path suppliers, payroll, taxes, insurance, and debt service.
Maintain a live AP aging analysis with vendor-by-vendor criticality ratings (sole-source, essential to operations, replaceable).
Negotiate extended terms, structured payment plans, settlements, and forbearance arrangements directly with vendors; document and track adherence to every plan agreed.
Serve as a professional, credible point of contact for vendors seeking payment status.

Liquidity Sourcing & Debt Capacity

Identify and evaluate additional sources of cash: lines of credit, refinancing, asset-based lending, equipment financing, factoring, owner contributions, and asset sales.
Analyze and maximize borrowing capacity against real estate and other assets held in affiliated entities — including current valuations, existing liens, LTV headroom, and refinance or cash-out scenarios.
Assemble lender packages: financial statements, rent rolls, debt schedules, projections, and supporting documentation.
Model the cost, timing, covenants, and cash flow impact of each financing option, and present a clear recommendation.
Maintain a consolidated debt schedule across all entities, including maturities, rates, covenants, and guarantee exposure.

Budgeting & Forecasting

Own the annual operations budget and the shop budget, from build to approval to monthly variance reporting.
Partner with department and shop leadership to develop realistic, defensible budgets tied to operational drivers (labor, materials, equipment, job volume).
Deliver monthly budget vs. actual reporting with written commentary on material variances and recommended corrective action.
Build scenario and sensitivity models (base / downside / upside) to support planning under uncertainty.

Excel Dashboard & Reporting Ownership

Own the company's Excel financial models and dashboards end to end: structure, data connections, formulas, controls, and documentation.
Deliver a leadership dashboard covering cash position, forecast, AP/AR aging, budget variance, and key operating metrics.
Ensure models are auditable and maintainable — clear assumptions, no orphaned links, no single point of failure.
Improve data flow between accounting/ERP systems and reporting to eliminate manual re-keying.

AI Integration & Process Automation

Identify and implement AI and automation tools that reduce manual effort in forecasting, reporting, AP analysis, document review, and variance commentary.
Build and refine prompts, workflows, and validated processes so AI output is checked, sourced, and reliable before it reaches leadership.
Train the finance team on approved tools and maintain standards for data privacy and confidentiality.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.
3+ years in financial analysis, FP&A, treasury, corporate finance, or similar.
Advanced Excel: complex modeling, pivot tables, Power Query, XLOOKUP/INDEX-MATCH, scenario analysis, dashboard construction.
Demonstrated experience building and maintaining cash flow forecasts.
Working knowledge of financial statements, debt structures, and loan documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication — able to explain a hard number to a vendor, a lender, and an owner.
Discretion with confidential financial information.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in a cash-constrained, turnaround, or high-growth environment.
Direct experience negotiating with vendors or creditors.
Familiarity with commercial real estate lending, refinancing, or asset-based lending.
Experience with multi-entity structures and intercompany accounting.
Hands-on use of AI tools in a finance or analytics workflow.
Experience with QBO, Sage Intaact, Power BI, or SQL.
CPA, CFA, or MBA.

Competencies for Success

Ownership. You treat the forecast as yours. Nobody has to ask you for the weekly cash report.
Composure. Vendor calls and tight weeks don't rattle you.
Judgment. You know the difference between a payment that can slip and one that can't.
Precision. In this environment, a modeling error has consequences. You check your work.
Resourcefulness. When the obvious source of cash is exhausted, you find the next one.

First-Year Success Measures

Rolling 13-week cash forecast in place, updated on a fixed cadence, achieving and sustaining week-one forecast accuracy within ±15% of total disbursements, measured on absolute variance in either direction.
Documented vendor prioritization framework and active payment plans with all major vendors.
Consolidated debt and borrowing-capacity analysis completed across all entities.
Operations and shop budgets delivered on schedule with monthly variance reporting.
At least [two] finance workflows measurably automated or AI-assisted.
