Full Job Description

Research Certified Pharmacy Technician

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: Under supervision of the Principal Investigator. Activities include but are not limited to preparing and distributing intravenous and oral medications (including chemotherapy, investigational products, and supportive care medications), maintain study drug logs and documentation through the applicable computer programs and paper systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prepare intravenous and oral medications for administration as prescribed by protocol.
Follow protocol instructions on the compounding reports precisely, including timed tasks, reconstitution, measured volumes, needle sizes if specified, etc. including documentation.
Responsible for processing and dispensing of oral chemotherapy agents per study regimens/physician orders.
Maintain temperature-monitoring systems, reporting excursions promptly to sponsor and quarantine IP appropriately.
Maintain and generate reports through the applicable computer programs.
Maintain appropriate investigational medication records per SOP 02
Maintaining Research Based IP Logs. Must be willing to travel to satellite sites, transporting study drugs per SOP 04.
Work with patient advocate to evaluate potential study enrollment coverage or co-pay assistance plans for SOC treatment.
Interact with study monitors by providing drug accountability reports and temperature storage logs.
Responsible for advanced preparation and support for monitoring visits and study audits.
Responsible for preparing labels and files for new protocols and archiving closed protocol data as directed by Regulatory.
Organize and prioritize work assignments. Maintain current technician certification by completing all competence/skill assessment testing and obtain required continuing education credits.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to work as a team member with a professional demeanor and courteous attitude with emphasis on customer service and attention to detail
Knowledge of basic pharmacy practices and procedures, medications and medical supplies and record-keeping techniques
Accurate typing skills (minimum 35 words per minute)
Working understanding of computer technology
Requires working with toxic substances, and medicinal preparations
Frequent standing or walking for extended periods.
Strong organizational, prioritization, communications & mathematics skills – Required.
Experience: One to two years of sterile compounding and chemotherapy admixture experience preferred. Sterile compounding & chemotherapy certification required.
Ability to understand the importance of and respect the confidentiality of all patient information.
Proficiency in word-processing, data entry and report analysis.
Previous research experience preferred.

EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIREMENTS:
High School Graduate or GED, Business/College Courses, Medical Terminology Courses Preferred.
Nationally Certified Pharmacy Technician – C.PH.T. Required/GCP CITI Training
