Founded in 2016, Utah Valley Refugees began as a private, non-profit organization dedicated to supporting secondary migrants in Utah County. In 2024, it transitioned into a resettlement agency, partnering with Church World Services for Remote Placement to facilitate refugee resettlement in Utah County. Utah Valley Refugees offers a comprehensive range of services, including housing, education, employment, and healthcare. Additionally, it provides initial support to newly arrived refugees for 30 to 90 days (about 3 months) to help them start their new lives in the United States. The organization also offers supportive programs such as ESL classes, language interpretation, transportation, parent and youth program, daycare, and after-school programs.
Job Opportunity : Program for Initial Resettlement (PIR) Case Manager
We are seeking a committed, passionate, and open-minded individual to join our case management team. A Program for Initial Resettlement (PIR) Case Manager, you will work closely with the UVR Refugee Resettlement Director. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Program Administration:
- Provide intensive case management and direct services throughout the initial 30 to 90-day PIR program service period.
- Maintain regular communication with newly arriving refugee and immigrant clients.
- Document service delivery and case note activities, updating the IRIS case management database accordingly.
- Assist the program director with applications/forms for public benefits, social security cards, school registration, and other required documentation.
- Assist the program director with fund requests related to financial expenditures.
Direct Services / Case Management:
- Assist with initial housing arrangements for new R&P arrivals, including housing agreements, furniture delivery, and utility setups.
- Maintain regular communication with US-ties/anchors for newly arrived individuals/families.
- Manage airport pickups and initial home visits for new R&P arrivals.
- Ensure new arrivals have access to food, household items, and appropriate seasonal clothing.
- Provide transportation for clients to and from scheduled appointments with local service providers.
- Provide in-depth cultural orientation on required core concepts for new arrivals.
- Facilitate program referrals, including intensive case management, employment services, and English language training.
- Ensure clients understand the agency’s working hours and emergency procedures.
- Follow up with clients regularly to ensure basic needs are met, including food, rent, employment opportunities, immunizations, and acculturation.
- Manage the 90-day R&P program period tracking, required reporting, and case completion/closeout procedures.
- Track financial expenditures and in-kind donations, obtaining signatures on receipts/tracking forms.
- Assist with other assigned projects/initiatives, such as donation drives and data collection.
- Serve as a cultural liaison, providing background on cultural norms/practices and facilitating communication between the agency, clients, and ethnic communities.
Position Requirements:
- Undergraduate degree with at least two years of prior work experience in refugee resettlement, preferably with newly arriving refugees and immigrants from assigned cultural community groups.
- Ability to maintain regular communication with the program director, staff, newly arriving refugee individuals/families, and local service providers.
- Demonstrated success in working and communicating effectively in a multicultural environment.
- Self-starter with excellent analytical skills and the ability to multi-task, prioritize duties, and work efficiently.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Valid driver’s license, access to a reliable vehicle with current insurance, and the ability to drive a passenger van preferred.
- Proficient in both spoken and written English, bilingual proficiency in Spanish, or Swahili, or French, or Arabic, or Haitian Creole is preferred.
- Background checks will be conducted on selected candidates.
Pay: $19.00 - $20.00 per hour
