Full Job Description

Job Summary

The Senior Purchaser is responsible for managing the procurement of raw materials, components, supplies, and services necessary to support manufacturing operations. This position develops and maintains supplier relationships, negotiates pricing and contracts, ensures material availability, and drives continuous cost savings while maintaining quality and delivery standards. The ideal candidate is highly organized, analytical, and experienced in manufacturing purchasing, inventory control, supplier management, and ERP/MRP systems.

Essential Tasks & Responsibilities

· Manage procurement activities for raw materials, components, packaging, consumables, and services.

· Issue purchase orders and monitor supplier performance.

· Negotiate pricing, contracts, payment terms, and delivery schedules with vendors.

· Develop strategic sourcing plans to reduce costs and minimize supply chain risks.

· Identify and qualify new suppliers while maintaining relationships with existing vendors.

· Collaborate with production, engineering, quality, and inventory teams to ensure material availability.

· Monitor inventory levels and forecast purchasing requirements.

· Analyze spending trends and identify cost-reduction opportunities.

· Resolve supplier quality issues and delivery discrepancies.

· Track supplier performance metrics including pricing, quality, and on-time delivery.

· Maintain accurate purchasing records and documentation.

· Support inventory accuracy initiatives and cycle count programs.

· Participate in continuous improvement projects related to purchasing and supply chain processes.

· Ensure compliance with company policies and ethical purchasing standards.

Expectation

· Ensure uninterrupted production by maintaining adequate inventory levels and timely procurement of materials.

· Negotiate pricing, terms, and supplier agreements to reduce costs and maximize value for the company.

· Establish and maintain strong supplier relationships while holding vendors accountable for quality and delivery performance.

· Proactively identify and resolve supply chain risks, shortages, and delivery issues before they impact operations.

· Drive continuous improvement in purchasing processes, inventory management, and overall supply chain efficiency.

Physical Demands & Working Conditions

· Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.

· Occasional lifting of up to 25 pounds.

· Ability to visit manufacturing and warehouse areas as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

· 7+ years of manufacturing purchasing experience.

· Experience with lean manufacturing principles.

· APICS, CPIM, CSCP, CPSM, or related certification.

· Experience with domestic and international sourcing.

· Familiarity with ISO quality systems.

· Ability to communicate in English

Education & Experience

· Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Operations, or related field preferred.

· Minimum 5 years of purchasing or procurement experience in a manufacturing environment.

· Strong understanding of inventory management and production planning.

· Experience negotiating supplier agreements and pricing.

· Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Excel.

· Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay

Dependent on Experience.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
