Full Job Description

Job Title: Ville PM Shelter Advocate

Description:

The Ville 1990 Shelter Program is one of Utah's largest emergency shelter programs, serving 208 unhoused individuals. We are looking for passionate, community-oriented individuals who are ready to show up, make a difference, and be a consistent source of support for people navigating one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

As a Shelter Advocate, you will provide compassionate, trauma-informed support to shelter residents as they work toward housing stability. You will assist with intake, bed management, and daily shelter operations, maintain accurate documentation and client records, collaborate with case managers, maintenance, housekeeping, and community partners to ensure a safe and welcoming environment, uphold shelter policies and procedures while treating all residents with dignity and respect, and serve as a resource and advocate for individuals as they navigate services and next steps toward permanent housing.

Position Status: Full-Time

Hours: Grave Shift (7:00pm-7:00am) - Three 12 Hour Shifts - Thursday, Friday, & Saturday.

Pay Rate: $18.00/hour

Job Responsibilities:

Provide trauma-informed, compassionate customer service residents.
Problem-solve community and resident concerns.
Collaborate with and support external case management teams.
Work as part of a team that strives to serve and protect individuals who have experienced homelessness in our community.
Other responsibilities as assigned.

Required Experience:

Experience in customer service, social services, shelter operations, or a related field is preferred but not required.
We value lived experience, a strong work ethic, and a genuine desire to serve above all else.

Ability to communicate effectively and handle difficult situations with professionalism and compassion from a Trauma-Informed Care framework.
Understanding of the Housing First philosophy. Willingness to have conversations with residents about housing.
Demonstrated awareness of and sensitivity to diverse populations. Ability to contribute to the agency’s commitment to enhancing awareness and appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages.
Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift 25 pounds.
Ability to stand and/or walk for at least an hour or more.
