Full Job Description

Position Overview We are seeking compassionate and reliable Youth Mentors to provide structured, strength-based support to youth in their homes and communities. Mentors work one-on-one with youth to build life skills, support personal goals, and help them successfully engage in school, family, and community activities. This role involves meeting youth where they are—both physically and emotionally—to provide guidance, positive role modeling, and support through everyday challenges. Mentoring services are delivered face-to-face in the community or via telehealth and focus on improving daily living skills, communication, social development, and overall well-being. Key Responsibilities Youth Support & Engagement

Provide one-on-one mentoring to youth in home and community settings
Serve as a positive role model and trusted support person
Help youth develop social, communication, and daily living skills
Support youth in building confidence, problem-solving abilities, and independence
Encourage participation in healthy recreational activities, hobbies, and community engagement

Education & Career Development

Assist youth with homework and academic expectations
Support school engagement and school-related goals
Help youth explore career interests and employment opportunities
Assist with resume development and job interview preparation
Connect youth to vocational training programs and workforce resources when appropriate

Community & Family Support

Accompany youth to appointments and meetings when appropriate (medical, therapy, court, school meetings, etc.)
Assist with navigating community resources
Communicate with case managers and other professionals involved in the youth’s care
Provide transportation to approved appointments when necessary

Crisis & Behavioral Support

Support youth during challenging situations or behavioral crises
Help maintain safe and stable environments for youth in their placements
Work collaboratively with care teams to support youth with complex behavioral needs when additional staffing is required

Documentation

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of mentoring activities
Record service dates, start and end times, and services provided
Submit case notes and progress updates to supervisors and case managers

Qualifications

At least 1 year of experience working with youth in mentoring, behavioral health, social services, education, or related fields
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently and in community settings
Reliable transportation and valid driver’s license
Ability to pass background check

Preferred:

Experience working with at-risk youth or youth with behavioral health needs
Knowledge of community resources
Bilingual abilities are a plus

Work Environment

Community-based work in homes, schools, and public settings
Flexible scheduling including afternoons, evenings, and occasional weekends
One-on-one mentoring (generally 1 mentor per youth)

Documentation & Compliance Mentors are responsible for maintaining service documentation including:

Service date, start/end time, and duration
Description of mentoring activities
Progress toward youth goals

Outcomes We Aim to Achieve Mentors play an important role in helping youth:

Achieve personal goals and life skills development
Increase stability in their home and community placements
