Job Description

The Production Quality Leader bridges daily shop-floor operations with strict quality compliance, operating under a dual-reporting structure. This role manages frontline production personnel, schedules shifts, and monitors workflows to optimize efficiency and safety. Concurrently, the leader oversees the execution of in-process and final product inspections, maintains calibration and document control systems, and coordinates employee procedural training under the guidance of Quality Assurance Supervisor.

Essential Functions

Operations Leadership Responsibilities (Solid Line)

Team Leadership & Development: Manage personnel by establishing schedules, monitoring daily performance, and providing continuous coaching and corrective action as necessary.
Workflow Optimization: Oversee and maintain efficient operational workflows by monitoring every step of the production process.
Operational Reporting: Shift-manage personnel allocation to achieve production priorities, resolve operational bottlenecks, and document performance metrics in shift summaries.
Compliance: Enforce compliance with organizational policies, corporate standards, and employee codes of conduct.
Workplace Safety: Maintain a safe and clean work environment by instructing staff on the proper use of equipment and resources.
Staff Training: Lead onboarding and professional development training initiatives for all direct reports.
General Support: Execute administrative projects and other critical business duties as assigned by leadership.

Quality Leadership Responsibilities (Dotted Line)

In-Process & Final Inspection: Execute comprehensive product testing and validation across all manufacturing phases—including incoming, in-process, and final inspection—prior to product distribution.
Calibration Management: Assist in monitoring the internal equipment calibration system to guarantee the accuracy and compliance of all measurement instruments and gauges.
Quality System Auditing: Conduct regular internal quality audits (as assigned) to evaluate process adherence, identify non-conformances, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
Document Control: Oversee the internal document control system on the production floor, ensuring standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality records remain accurate, updated, and accessible.
Training Coordination: Act as the primary liaison for internal training initiatives, partnering with the Quality Assurance Supervisor to coordinate employee training on procedural and operational standards.
External Audit Support: Support on-site audits conducted by customers, regulatory bodies, or registrar certifying organizations.

COMPETENCIES AND QUALIFICATIONS

Industry Experience: 3–5 years of progressive experience in quality inspection, quality assurance, or quality control (QA/QC) within a manufacturing environment.
Supervisory Experience: 3–5 years of proven leadership experience supervising production personnel and managing shift operations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Production, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
Technical Frameworks: Demonstrated familiarity with recognized quality standards and management systems (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
Operational Systems: Strong operational understanding of manufacturing concepts, process flows, and production systems.
Software: Proficient with Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive) and related productivity platforms
Communication & Collaboration: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively coach teams, lead training initiatives, and communicate with cross-functional management.
Organization & Planning: Excellent organizational, workflow-planning, and time-management skills to maintain precise documentation and floor compliance.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position directly supervises hourly production employees.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position operates in a mixed environment consisting of a professional office and a manufacturing facility. While on the production floor, the employee may occasionally be exposed to airborne particles, fumes, moving mechanical parts, and vibrations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS

This is a full-time position, and the hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, during normal business hours. Hours of work may vary based on business needs.

TRAVEL

Travel is infrequent but occasionally required (up to 10%) to visit customer sites, suppliers, or other corporate locations.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
