Full Job Description

Position Summary:

The Retail Operations Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of retail store performance, team development, customer experience, and operational excellence. This role provides hands-on leadership while driving sales growth, inventory discipline, profitability, and operational consistency across retail and food service areas.The ideal candidate is both a strong people leader and a strategic operator who is capable of coaching teams, analyzing performance data, strengthening systems, and planning proactively for seasonal peaks and weather-driven demand.

Key Responsibilities:

Team Leadership & Development

Supervise, coach, and support Managers and Retail Associates.
Conduct regular performance check-ins and provide constructive feedback to promote growth and accountability.
Develop Managers and Team Leaders to build long-term bench strength.
Foster a positive, collaborative, and high-accountability work environment.
Motivate the team to achieve and exceed sales and customer service goals.
Recognize and reward exceptional performance.
Provide structured onboarding, cross-training, and ongoing development opportunities.
Build and document structured retail training systems and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
Support seasonal hiring to ensure teams are staffed, trained, and prepared for peak seasons.
Professionally manage employee conflicts and escalate to HR when necessary.

Store Operations & Execution

Oversee all day-to-day store operations, ensuring efficiency and adherence to company policies.
Maintain a visible, hands-on presence on the floor, assisting with customer service, cashiering, stocking, and outdoor retail operations as needed.
Develop and manage employee schedules to ensure appropriate labor coverage and productivity.
Implement proactive weather-based labor and inventory forecasting.
Pre-plan peak weekends and major events with clear labor and stocking strategies.
Ensure store cleanliness, organization, and visual appeal at all times.
Uphold standards for professionalism, safety, food safety, and health compliance.
Coordinate with other departments to ensure timely restocking and consistent product quality.
Oversee cash control procedures and ensure consistent reconciliation standards.

Inventory & Financial Performance

Strengthen inventory discipline through consistent weekly par-level reviews and adjustments.
Monitor inventory accuracy and coordinate replenishment proactively.
Review margin and category performance regularly and identify opportunities for improvement.
Analyze store performance metrics and implement strategies to improve sales and profitability.
Monitor shrink, spoilage, and waste trends; tighten processes to minimize loss.
Oversee vendor relationships and conduct periodic pricing reviews to protect margins.
Identify operational efficiencies that enhance profitability without compromising customer experience.
Conduct post-season performance analysis to inform planning for the following season.

Customer Experience Leadership

Lead by example in delivering exceptional customer service.
Resolve customer issues promptly and professionally.
Anticipate customer needs and elevate the overall shopping experience.
Coach team members to consistently meet and exceed service expectations.
Lead front-line operations during peak weekends and events to ensure smooth flow.
Build strong customer relationships that enhance loyalty and repeat business.
Ensure merchandising and product presentation are compelling and aligned with brand standards.

Sales & Business Growth

Implement sales strategies and promotional initiatives to drive results.
Ensure staff are informed, confident, and knowledgeable about current promotions and products.
Oversee visual merchandising to maintain an inviting and high-performing retail environment.
Identify trends and opportunities to grow categories and improve performance.
Take a proactive, data-driven approach to decision-making.

Qualifications:

3–5+ years of retail management experience (multi-department or high-volume retail preferred).
Strong leadership and team development skills.
Proven ability to analyze financial and performance data.
Experience managing inventory systems, shrink reduction, and margin performance.
Ability to operate both strategically and hands-on.
Strong organizational and planning skills, especially in seasonal or event-driven environments.
Excellent communication and conflict resolution skills.
Working knowledge of food safety and retail compliance standards preferred.
Food Safety/ServSafe Certification is a plus

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
