Full Job Description

Job Title: In-Process Inspector

Department: Quality Control

Reports To: Quality Engineer

Position Summary:

The In-Process Inspector is responsible for inspecting and verifying machined steel components during various stages of production to ensure they meet engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards. This role plays a key part in maintaining product accuracy, preventing defects, and supporting continuous improvement within the machining department.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform dimensional and visual inspections of machined steel parts during production using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, CMM, etc.).
Verify in-process dimensions, surface finish, and other critical features according to engineering drawings and process control plans.
Accurately document inspection results and maintain inspection records in accordance with company and customer requirements.
Identify and report nonconformities, assist with root cause analysis, and verify corrective actions.
Collaborate closely with machine operators and production supervisors to ensure parts meet quality standards before moving to the next operation.
Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T(Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing), and technical specifications.
Support first article inspections (FAI) and final inspection processes as needed.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical training or coursework in machining, manufacturing, or quality assurance preferred.
1 year of experience in machining inspection or precision manufacturing environment (steel or metalworking experience preferred).
2-3 years' experience with precision measuring tools and instruments.
2-3 years of blueprint reading.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems a plus.
Moderate computer skills (MS Office, ERP or Quality Management Systems, Optical Comparator, etc.).
Excellent attention to detail, communication, and teamwork skills.
CMM preferable

Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs.
Manual dexterity and visual acuity sufficient to perform detailed inspections.
Comfortable working in a machining or manufacturing environment.

Work Schedule:

[1st Shift: 6:00 am – 4:30 pm, Monday - Thursday] [2nd Shift: 4 pm - 2:30 am, Monday-Thursday]
Overtime may be required based on production needs.

Pay: From $18.00 per hour
