Job Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and energetic Coder/Insurance Billing Specialist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately coding medical procedures and diagnoses, managing insurance claims, and ensuring timely reimbursement. Your expertise will help streamline billing processes, improve revenue cycle management, and support optimal patient care. Responsibilities
- Review medical records and documentation to assign appropriate CPT (Current Procedural Terminology) codes for procedures and services
- Utilize ICD-10 coding systems to accurately identify patient diagnoses and conditions
- Prepare and submit insurance claims using Electronic Medical Record (EMR) or Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
- Follow up on unpaid or rejected claims through effective medical collection strategies
- Stay updated on changes in medical coding standards, insurance policies, and billing regulations to ensure ongoing compliance
- Audit daily charges for accurate procedures/diagnoses/modifiers
- Review and reconcile daily manifests against charge entry reports to ensure all services rendered are captured and no billable charges are missed
- Balance daily payment batches and process deposits in accordance with established financial procedures
Qualifications
- Certification as a Certified Professional Coder (CPC) is preferred
- Possesses 3-4 years related experience in the healthcare industry
- Strong knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-10 coding systems
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems and practice management systems
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to interpret complex medical information accurately
- Demonstrates extensive understanding of insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity and Marketplace Exchange Products) required
- Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients
- The ability to multi-task in a fast-paced working environment
- Displays the ability to keyboard 40 WPM; is proficient in Word, Excel, and Outlook
