Job Summary
Angel Learning Center is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Early Childhood Curriculum Director to lead instructional quality, teacher development, and curriculum implementation across our preschool classrooms.
This is not an entry-level childcare or administrative position. We are looking for an accomplished early childhood educator who has successfully led a preschool classroom and has experience coaching teachers, reviewing lesson plans, conducting classroom observations, and improving educational outcomes.
The Curriculum Director will work closely with the Center Director, lead teachers, and assistant teachers to ensure that every classroom provides a safe, organized, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment.
The successful candidate will be visible in classrooms, actively coach teachers, model effective teaching practices, and hold instructional staff accountable for consistently implementing Angel Learning Center’s educational standards.
Primary ResponsibilitiesCurriculum Leadership
- Oversee the implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum across all assigned classrooms.
- Ensure lesson plans support early literacy, mathematics, science, language development, social-emotional learning, physical development, art, music, and creative exploration.
- Review weekly lesson plans for quality, accuracy, age appropriateness, differentiation, and alignment with classroom learning goals.
- Ensure classroom instruction aligns with GELDS, Georgia Pre-K requirements where applicable, center expectations, and recognized early childhood best practices.
- Help teachers adapt lessons for children with different developmental abilities, learning styles, behaviors, and support needs.
- Evaluate curriculum materials, classroom resources, learning centers, and instructional supplies.
- Maintain curriculum calendars, instructional priorities, assessment schedules, and teacher-development plans.
Teacher Coaching and Development
- Conduct regular classroom observations and provide teachers with specific, constructive, and timely feedback.
- Coach teachers on classroom management, positive guidance, lesson delivery, transitions, supervision, child engagement, and family communication.
- Model high-quality lessons, circle time, small-group instruction, learning-center activities, and positive behavior-management strategies.
- Develop individualized coaching plans for teachers who need additional support.
- Recognize high-performing teachers and help prepare them for future leadership opportunities.
- Lead curriculum meetings, professional-development sessions, teacher workshops, and instructional planning meetings.
- Support the onboarding and training of new lead teachers and assistant teachers.
- Monitor whether teachers successfully implement coaching recommendations.
- Partner with the Center Director when instructional performance concerns require additional documentation or corrective action.
Classroom Quality and Learning Environments
- Ensure classrooms are welcoming, organized, developmentally appropriate, and prepared for daily instruction.
- Evaluate classroom displays, learning centers, schedules, materials, and children’s work.
- Ensure learning centers contain appropriate materials that support active exploration and skill development.
- Help teachers create consistent classroom routines and smooth transitions.
- Monitor active supervision, teacher-child interactions, classroom engagement, and positive guidance practices.
- Support teachers in responding appropriately to challenging behaviors.
- Collaborate with teachers and families when children may need additional developmental, behavioral, or early-intervention support.
- Assist classrooms during observations, demonstrations, training, or unusual circumstances; however, this position is not intended to serve as permanent classroom coverage.
Child Assessment and Educational Progress
- Ensure teachers complete accurate observations, developmental assessments, portfolios, and progress documentation.
- Review assessment information to identify classroom strengths, learning gaps, and areas requiring additional instructional support.
- Help teachers use assessment results to individualize lessons and activities.
- Monitor children’s progress toward age-appropriate developmental and school-readiness goals.
- Support teachers in preparing for parent conferences and developmental-progress discussions.
- Ensure assessment and child-development information is maintained accurately, professionally, and confidentially.
Compliance and Program Quality
- Support compliance with Angel Learning Center policies and all applicable childcare licensing, Quality Rated, accreditation, and Georgia Pre-K requirements.
- Help prepare classrooms and instructional records for monitoring visits, quality assessments, and program reviews.
- Audit lesson plans, classroom records, assessment documentation, schedules, and educational materials.
- Work with the Center Director to identify and correct curriculum or classroom-quality concerns.
- Participate in quality-improvement planning and help implement measurable instructional goals.
- Maintain accurate records of classroom observations, teacher coaching, training, and follow-up activities.
Family and Leadership Collaboration
- Support teachers in developing respectful and professional relationships with parents and guardians.
- Assist with parent concerns related to curriculum, development, classroom practices, or school readiness.
- Help plan family-engagement activities, educational events, parent workshops, and school-readiness initiatives.
- Communicate regularly with the Center Director regarding classroom quality, teacher performance, curriculum needs, and instructional progress.
- Collaborate with company leadership and other curriculum leaders to maintain consistency across Angel Learning Center programs.
- Represent Angel Learning Center professionally when interacting with families, staff members, community partners, and regulatory representatives.
Required Qualifications
Please apply only if you meet the following minimum qualifications:
- Associate degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a closely related field.
- At least three years of successful experience as a Lead Preschool Teacher, Georgia Pre-K Teacher, Head Start Teacher, or comparable early childhood educator.
- At least one year of experience coaching, mentoring, training, supervising, or evaluating early childhood teachers.
- Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing preschool curriculum and lesson plans.
- Strong knowledge of child development and developmentally appropriate instructional practices.
- Strong understanding of positive guidance, classroom management, active supervision, and teacher-child interactions.
- Experience conducting classroom observations and providing professional feedback.
- Experience using developmental observations, assessments, portfolios, or child-progress documentation.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple classrooms, priorities, and deadlines.
- Professional, dependable, responsive, and comfortable holding teachers accountable.
- Stable and verifiable employment history.
- Ability to provide at least two professional references, including a previous director, administrator, supervisor, or education coordinator.
- Ability to meet all applicable background-check, training, and employment requirements for a licensed Georgia childcare program.
Applicants whose experience is limited to babysitting, nannying, classroom assistance, substitute work, or administrative duties without demonstrated curriculum leadership will not meet the qualifications for this position.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates who have:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Education, or a related field.
- Five or more years of early childhood classroom experience.
- Two or more years of experience as a Curriculum Coordinator, Education Coordinator, Instructional Coach, Assistant Director, or Curriculum Director.
- Experience working in a Quality Rated or nationally accredited childcare program.
- Experience with Georgia Pre-K, Head Start, or another structured early-learning program.
- Strong working knowledge of GELDS.
- Experience supporting accreditation, Quality Rated, licensing, or program-improvement initiatives.
- Experience using child-assessment systems and curriculum-management platforms.
- Experience developing and delivering staff training.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification.
- Experience supporting children with developmental, behavioral, or individualized learning needs.
