Full Job Description

Alamo Health Management of Santa Clarita is an adult residential facility looking for an exceptional culinary director to lead our culinary team. We provide transitional housing and resident centered care services for clients suffering from mental health, addiction, and/or dual diagnosis. The Culinary Director is responsible for planning, organizing, preparing and service of meals and refreshments in collaboration with the consulting dietitian and Regional Culinary Director.

Essential Functions of the Job:

Create recipes and menu cycles in collaboration with consulting dietitian that offer choice, address requests from residents and meet licensing guidelines for nutrition and portion size.
Supervise the service of three meals a day, plus snacks for all residents.
Develop, monitor and maintain quality standards for the storage, preparation and presentation of food. Routinely meets with ED’s and the department heads and solicits residents’ ideas and perspectives on the quality, variety and type of meals served in the Community. Adjusts menu to reflect needs and interests of residents as well as seasonal opportunities.
Oversee the accurate and timely completion and filing of all required production records and other documentation required for food storage and handling.
Prepare appropriate special diets to meet resident’s needs. Prepares and coordinates food for special event and activities.
Develop and implements a safety program to ensure proper working conditions and use of equipment. Trains staff in the use and management of equipment and supplies in the kitchen.
Demonstrate an understanding of safety procedures and precautions regarding the resident. Reports all incidents, accidents, unsafe or hazardous conditions to appropriate personnel. Responds to emergency situations, following proper emergency protocol.
Provide supervision to the culinary department including hiring, training, and evaluation of kitchen and dining room staff.
Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

Education and Experience:

B.S. Degree (food services related) strongly preferred.
Five years of experience in institutional food preparation and service and supervisory experience required.

Essential Skills:

Must have excellent interpersonal skills and ability to lead and motivate culinary staff team.
