General Summary:
The Director of Health Services is responsible for the management and delivery of high quality care and health services to residents. Direct oversight and management of Health Services Department according to company policy and ensure that each resident's clinical and psycho social needs are met.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, manage and schedule Health Service staff.
- Work as part of the Community's management team including serving as Manager-On-Duty when necessary.
- Lead tours of building, respond to inquiries and promote a welcoming experience for potential residents and families.
- Manage the capture of billing of additional service fees as appropriate.
- Prepare for Annual Surveys: Train staff in policies, procedures, regulations and promote a “state of continual readiness”; Conduct Mock Surveys on site and at other sister communities.
- Implement and conduct emergency training for staff and residents.
- Manage Health Services department within financial operating plan.
- Periodically evaluate health service staff performance, update job descriptions and make recommendations for wages and benefits.
- Develop, Implement and manage medication administration procedures. Ensure proper documentation and medication delivery.
- Build culture that promotes quality record keeping and continuously monitors for efficiency.
- Set a culture and practice of team that promotes communication, innovation, customer service and respect that facilitates improvement of staff retention and development
- Ensure the implementation of physician orders is timely and accurate and complaint.
- Provide training to all Health Service staff and coordinate in-service schedules as per Communities' policy and state mandates.
- Monitor Public Health, Virus and related alerts and ensure that the facility is taking proper actions and precautions.
- Performs clinical pre-admission assessment for each resident candidate and participate in family/resident pre-admission interviews, making recommendations based on pre-admission assessment regarding needed health services and appropriate charges
- Make recommendations related to resident care, based on continuing clinical assessment and caregiver staff input regarding needed health services.
- Maintains documentation per Communities' policy and state requirements regarding all resident clinical assessments, care plans, update assessments at change and on a quarterly basis as per point system.
- Ensure Resident Evaluations, making sure a complete and accurate care plan is kept and updated and acted on.
- Promptly complete resident incident reports as necessary notifying the Executive Director regarding residents exhibiting signs or symptoms of prohibited conditions or residents at risk and in need of higher level of care.
- Coordinate care services with primary physician, Communities' staff, private duty caregivers and home health agencies according to Communities' policy.
- Coordinate and arrange for resident special needs, requests or complaints.
- Act as liaison between Communities and outside health service providers.
- Manage additional charges for residents, and seek to insure charges are properly booked based on appropriate assessments and services.
- Management and oversight of Private Duty Personnel and companions as per Communities' policy.
- Ensure that all resident rights are protected.
- Participate in Marketing Department and Communities' outreach programs.
- To develop Resident health care assessment and care plan tools, protocols and training to properly bill for services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Education:
-Graduation from accredited School of Nursing
Experience:
- Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in nursing with increasingly progressive responsibility
- Minimum of three (3) years supervisory experience as a Nurse Manager or related experience
- Long Term, Skilled and or Rehabilitation center nursing experience preferred
License/Certification:
-Licensed Registered or Licensed Vocational Nurse in State of California
-Current First-Aid certification
Knowledge
- Knowledge of Residential Care Facility for the Elderly regulatory requirements
- Knowledge of basic general business principles and practices
- Knowledge of general business office equipment, practices and systems
- Knowledge of customer service delivery and practice
