About the Role
We are seeking a professional, personable, and detail-oriented Front Desk / Junior Legal Assistant to join our team in a full-time capacity. This is a dual-purpose role: you are the face and voice of the firm for every client and visitor who walks through our door, and you are simultaneously a hands-on member of our litigation support team. What You'll Do
Front Desk & Office Operations
▸ Serve as the first point of contact — greet clients, visitors, and vendors warmly and professionally
▸ Answer, screen, and direct incoming calls; manage the firm's main phone line
▸ Maintain the reception area, conference rooms, and kitchen in a professional and organized condition
▸ Receive, sort, and distribute mail and packages; prepare and ship outgoing correspondence
▸ Maintain office supply inventory and coordinate orders
Legal & Litigation Support
▸ Prepare, format, and proofread legal documents, correspondence, and memoranda
▸ Assist with e-filing and filing documents in California state and federal courts
▸ Monitor court dockets for hearing updates; track, review, and distribute court orders
▸ Enter and update case information, hearing dates, and deadlines in Clio Manage
▸ Calendar hearings, court deadlines, and key dates; maintain attorney and team calendars
▸ Process court document expenses; create and maintain case-related tasks in Clio
▸ Assist with document production, including copying, scanning, and Bates-labeling
▸ Support client intake procedures; monitor document uploads and maintain organized case files
▸ Assist with billing support, including timekeeper entry review and invoice preparation
▸ Conduct basic legal research and cite-checking as directed
▸ Shadow attorneys and paralegals to learn litigation procedures and workflows
▸ Assist in drafting and improving firm SOPs and office processes
What We're Looking For
Required
▸ High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred
▸ Minimum 2 years of experience in a legal assistant, paralegal, or receptionist role in a law firm
▸ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
▸ Experience with legal case management software (Clio, MyCase, or similar)
▸ Strong verbal and written communication skills
▸ Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
▸ Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
▸ Professional demeanor, discretion, and ability to handle confidential information
▸ Typing speed of at least 50 WPM
Preferred (Not Required)
▸ Paralegal certificate or legal secretary training
▸ Experience in employment litigation, labor law, or class action matters
▸ Familiarity with California employment law terminology and procedures
▸ Familiarity with California court e-filing systems (Odyssey, TurboCourt, etc.)
▸ Bilingual — English/Spanish strongly preferred
▸ Experience with document management systems and legal research databases
