Thomas O. Miller & Co. is a fourth-generation, family-owned foodservice distributor and coffee company serving the Hudson Valley, Capital Region, and Tri-State area. We pride ourselves on long-term customer relationships, high-quality products, and doing business with integrity.

Job Summary
We are seeking experienced business professionals with outside sales and/or foodservice industry experience to grow and service accounts within an assigned territory. This is an outside sales position responsible for promoting the company’s products and services and building strong relationships with new and existing accounts. The focus is to help our customers succeed while achieving the sales and profit goals established by the company.

Available Territories

Westchester, Putnam, & Rockland Counties

Responsibilities

Prospect new accounts and qualify leads in line with company goals, including cold calling and frequent follow-up.
Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with current and new customers.
Maintain regular contact with customers to ensure satisfaction and identify new opportunities.
Research customer business needs and develop a mix of products and services to meet those needs.
Evaluate market trends and recommend products based on customer goals; deepen penetration of our product line within each account’s order guide to grow weekly sales.
Stay informed on market conditions, product innovations, competitor products, pricing, and promotions; share relevant information with customers as part of our value-added service.
Answer customer questions regarding products, pricing, availability, and applications.
Work with the credit department and customers to communicate and collect accounts receivable as needed, ensuring balances are paid according to approved terms.
Participate in ongoing sales and product training sessions.
Review and analyze weekly/monthly sales reports and special order requests to manage and grow your territory.

Requirements

Associate degree preferred, or equivalent proven sales experience.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in the foodservice, hospitality, or related industry.
Working knowledge of food and ingredients, including basic understanding of preparation and menu applications.
Strong customer service skills and understanding of industry market dynamics.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Strong math skills and ability to cost out menu items.
Self-motivated, disciplined, and professional demeanor.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Reliable vehicle; your vehicle effectively serves as your office on the road.
Valid, clean driver’s license with no DWI, DUI, or DWAI convictions during your time of employment.
Willingness to travel within the assigned territory.

Compensation:

This position offers a starting compensation of $75,000–$115,000 annually, based on experience and qualifications, along with ongoing monthly commission opportunities.
