SCHURIG CENTER FOR BRAIN INJURY RECOVERY

Hours: Part-Time or Full-Time (30-40 hours per week – to be determined with successful candidate)

The Role:

Schurig Center for Brain Injury Recovery is currently seeking an Intake/Program Coordinator to join our passionate and talented team of professionals who share a collective goal of designing services to make lives better. Schurig Center is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization providing an array of therapeutic services for people whose lives have been impacted by a stroke, trauma, accident, concussion and other forms of brain injury.

The organization is dedicated to providing therapeutic services that help people continue to improve abilities in a fun, peaceful, supportive environment. The services are designed to support growth and skill building in the areas of cognition, communication, relationships, managing moods and daily life. Our center is a therapeutic and educational center for survivors of a brain injury and their families. Support groups and an array of therapeutic classes are offered along with resource referral assistance and education. The mission is to provide continued rehabilitation, hope, and community for people whose lives have been affected by brain injury.

The team is positive, collaborative, and fun to work with. The staff and consulting professionals include licensed mental health therapists, neuropsychologists, expressive art therapists, speech therapists and marketing/development personnel. The center is located in Larkspur near a walking path, estuary, and is surrounded by a beautiful garden.

The intake/program coordinator is the point person at the organization for people seeking services, completing intakes by phone, zoom and in-person, and responding to all initial contact from the community. The role includes providing referrals and supporting access to community resources for survivors, their families, caregivers and professionals. The coordinator supports survivors and their families to access services they need to continue to rehabilitate and live as independently as possible after injury. This is a highly utilized service that provides a critically needed community resource not found elsewhere in this geographic area. Additionally, the role coordinates enrollment in services, provides outreach to other agencies, and works with the team to design and implement programs offered.

This role has tremendous impact in the lives of hundreds of people each year. Past candidates in this position have been graduate level students who are entering into clinical careers and desiring part-time experience towards their degree or licensure hours and people who have completed a bachelor’s degree and have experience working in clinical settings.

What You’ll Achieve:

Connecting people with appropriate services and resources through screening initial phone calls from survivors and family members for resource needs; complete initial consults via telephone
Identifying community resources and provide appropriate referrals for survivors, their families, and professionals
Providing in-person, phone, and email consultation to brain injury survivors, caregivers and professionals
Completing client intakes via zoom and in-person at our center
Manage and maintain resource database
Providing outreach to other agencies and community professionals to share information about Schurig Center and its service offerings
Working collaboratively with other staff to ensure that the mission of Schurig Center is realized
Helping to ensure the client Salesforce database is up to date with needed client data
Collaborating with the Schurig team to design and implement effective and beneficial services for survivors and caregivers

About You:

Excellent communication, organizational and time management skills
Enjoyment of and skill in interacting with the public, including the ability to interact effectively and supportively with adults with disabilities
Experience assisting people with disabilities, illness, crises management, or related needs
Ability to work collaboratively within a small team structure
Calm, professional and positive demeanor
Ability to work on-site in Larkspur
Undergraduate degree in a clinical field such as psychology/counseling or other related field of study. Education and training in other fields of study that are transferable to the position will be considered
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Salesforce (or other database experience)

Bonus Point For:

Clinical training in understanding and working with the needs of people who are living with a disability and systems/resources commonly utilized by persons/families living with disabilities
An understanding of acquired brain injury, short and long-term side effects, survivor/caregiver needs, client-centered advocacy
Previous employment as an intake or program coordinator, or similar role
Experience working in a non-profit setting
An interest in needs assessment, community resources, and expanding clinical interview skills
Bi-lingual/Spanish

Compensation and Benefits:

The hourly range for this role is $25-$30 per hour. The final hourly rate will be determined by various factors, including individual qualifications and internal parity, which will be objectively assessed during the interview process. A signing bonus of $500 will be provided.

Our benefits include: Medical Benefits stipend each pay period, Paid Vacation (3 weeks), Paid Sick Time (1.5 weeks), 9 paid holidays, and pre-tax 403(b) retirement plan.
