Full Job Description

InSync is looking to hire a very qualified Sterile Processing Supervisor for a client in the Bay area. This would be a 2-3 month assignment with possibility of a longer tenure if facility sees fit. Must have at least 5 years of experience in a hospital setting.

Sterile Processing SupervisorPosition Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Sterile Processing Supervisor to provide leadership and operational oversight for our Sterile Processing Department. This individual will play a critical role in supporting daily operations, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and maintaining continuity of service while we address current staffing needs.

The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader who can effectively supervise staff, conduct audits, coordinate daily departmental activities, and support process improvement initiatives. This position requires a strong understanding of sterile processing workflows, regulatory requirements, quality assurance practices, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities

Provide day-to-day operational oversight of the Sterile Processing Department
Coordinate daily staffing assignments and workflow to ensure efficient operations
Supervise and support sterile processing technicians and departmental staff
Conduct audits to ensure compliance with departmental policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
Monitor instrument processing, sterilization procedures, and quality assurance activities
Assist with troubleshooting operational challenges and implementing process improvements
Ensure proper documentation and adherence to established protocols
Collaborate with clinical departments to support surgical and procedural needs
Provide coaching, training, and performance feedback to team members
Support inventory management, equipment maintenance, and supply availability
Serve as a resource for staff and leadership while helping maintain operational continuity during staffing transitions

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree preferred
Current CRCST certification required; additional certifications preferred
Minimum of 3–5 years of Sterile Processing experience
Previous supervisory or leadership experience strongly preferred
Thorough knowledge of sterilization processes, instrument decontamination, assembly, and quality standards
Strong understanding of Joint Commission, AAMI, OSHA, and infection prevention guidelines
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment
Proficiency with computerized tracking systems and departmental documentation
