Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team and play a vital role in managing the financial operations of our property portfolio. This role offers the opportunity to oversee accounting functions related to property management, ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulatory standards, and streamlined financial processes. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in property accounting, possess excellent analytical skills, and thrive in a fast-paced environment dedicated to excellence.

Duties

Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for property portfolios, ensuring adherence to GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulatory standards.
Manage general ledger accounting, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and balance sheet reconciliations to maintain accurate financial records.
Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining vendor relationships.
Conduct bank reconciliations and cash flow analyses to monitor liquidity and optimize financial performance.
Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities for property operations.
Maintain detailed records of lease agreements, rent collections, deposit accounting and tenant billing using accounting software such as Yardi, QuickBooks, or similar platforms.
Collaborate with property management teams to interpret financial reports, identify variances, and recommend improvements.
Perform internal audits and participate in external audits to verify accuracy of financial data.

Skills

Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), technical accounting standards, and regulatory reporting requirements.
Proficiency with accounting software such as Yardi, Sage, PeopleSoft, Xero or QuickBooks; experience with Quicken is a plus.
Expertise in double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, account reconciliation processes, and general ledger management.
Experience with SOX controls implementation and auditing procedures.
Ability to interpret complex financial reports accurately and communicate findings effectively through clear financial report writing.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, budgeting models, cash flow forecasting, and financial analysis.
Knowledge of tax regulations related to real estate investments or non-profit entities is advantageous.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
