Your Impact
The Production Planning & Inventory Specialist supports manufacturing operations through effective production scheduling, inventory coordination, material planning, and order management. This role helps ensure products move efficiently through fabrication, welding, assembly, finishing, and shipping while supporting on-time delivery, inventory accuracy, and operational flow.
The role acts as a key connection point between production, purchasing, inventory, shipping, and customer requirements to help maintain efficient manufacturing operations and customer satisfaction.

Primary Areas of Influence
- Production Planning & Scheduling
- Coordinate and maintain production schedules based on customer demand, production capacity, material availability, and operational priorities.
- Release and manage work orders, travelers, and support manufacturing documentation.
- Monitor production flow and identify scheduling conflicts, delays, bottlenecks, or capacity concerns.
- Work closely with supervisors and production leaders to support schedule attainment and on-time completion.
- Adjust schedules and priorities as operational needs change
- Inventory & Material Coordination
- Monitor inventory levels to support production requirements and minimize shortages.
- Coordinate material staging and movement to support fabrication, welding, assembly, and shipping operations.
- Investigate inventory discrepancies and assist with cycle counting and inventory accuracy initiatives.
- Support material replenishment activities and communicate shortages or supply risks.
- Help maintain organized inventory systems and accurate ERP transactions.
- Production Control & Order Management
- Track work orders throughout the manufacturing process.
- Monitor open orders, urgent jobs, shortages, and past-due requirements.
- Communicate status updates and estimated completion dates to internal stakeholders.
- Support expedited orders and customer priority requirements when necessary.
- Coordinate completion activities to ensure orders move efficiently through production.
- ERP & Documentation Management
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and scheduling information within ERP systems.
- Ensure manufacturing records, work orders, and inventory transactions are completed accurately and on time.
- Support reporting related to production performance, inventory status, shortages, and operational metrics.
- Assist with maintaining controlled manufacturing documentation where applicable.
- Cross-Functional Support
- Maintain accurate production, inventory, and scheduling information within ERP systems.
- Ensure manufacturing records, work orders, and inventory transactions are completed accurately and on time.
- Support reporting related to production performance, inventory status, shortages, and operational metrics.
- Assist with maintaining controlled manufacturing documentation where applicable.
- Safety, Quality & Operational Standards
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and safe work practices.
- Support quality requirements and operational standards throughout the manufacturing process.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and professional work environment.
- Assist in identifying operational risks, process issues, and improvement opportunities.
What You Bring
- Experience in production planning, inventory coordination, scheduling, manufacturing support, or production control within a manufacturing environment is an asset.
- Experience working within metal fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or custom manufacturing environments considered an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and shifting production demands.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records, inventory information, and production data.
- Ability to problem solve, prioritize, and make sound decisions in a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong communication and coordination skills with the ability to work effectively across production, purchasing, shipping, and leadership teams.
- Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing software preferred
- Intermediate Microsoft Excel and computer skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing workflows, inventory movement, material control, and production scheduling principles.
- Ability to support operational flow while maintaining a high level of urgency, accuracy, and customer focus.
- Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to support continuous improvement initiatives across operations.
