Western AR Area Technical Center
The Western Arkansas Technical Center (WATC) is a regional secondary technical center that provides concurrent credit educational opportunities for high school juniors and seniors. The Program Coordinator supports student recruitment, registration, retention, career exploration, job placement, and student success initiatives while serving as a key liaison among students, high schools, the college, and the business community. The Program Coordinator serves as a student advocate, promoting student engagement and academic success through advising, enrollment support, and individualized assistance. Responsibilities include collaborating with high school principals, counselors, instructors, and parents; presenting program information to prospective students and community stakeholders; maintaining accurate student records; coordinating scheduling and competency testing; and assisting with the planning and implementation of student orientation and special events. Additionally, the Program Coordinator represents WATC in interactions with business and industry partners, campus departments, and secondary school personnel. This position reports to the Executive Director of Early College Programs. This is a twelve-month position.
Required Education and/or Work Experience: Bachelor’s degree and three years related work experience in a higher education or public school setting working with juniors and seniors. Experience in high school or secondary technical center would be a plus. Other job related education and/or experience may be substituted for part of these requirements.
Preferred Education and/or Work Experience: Master’s degree preferred.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
(20%) Advise, register, and enroll area high school students in WATC programs
(20%) Proactively address student academic alerts through campus systems and collaborate with parents, counselors, and instructors to resolve academic concerns and support student success
(20%) Collaborate with faculty to address and resolve student issues when the Executive Director is unavailable
(20%) Coordinate recruitment activities with all area high schools for the WATC program
(10%) Assist in communication of program/student information to partner school districts, students, and parents/guardians
(5%) Coordinate student login and ID dissemination
(5%) Assist in coordination of industry certifications/exams for WATC students
Other Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for maintaining a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a manner to foster teamwork and by providing leadership to subordinates. Requires consistent on-time attendance.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: To perform the job successfully, the following competencies are required for the essential functions of this position:
Ability to work in a technological environment demonstrating proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
Excellent oral and written communication skills

Working Relationships: This position requires collaboration with faculty, staff, students, regional school districts, and industry representatives.

Special Job Dimensions: Work performed primarily in an office setting at the Peak Innovation Center. Routine work schedule Monday through Friday, 7:30am to 4:30pm with occasional overtime and travel required
