Full Job Description

Key Responsibilities

The Staff Accountant will support the day-to-day accounting operations across multiple entities, ensuring accurate financial records, timely reporting, and compliance with company policies. Typical responsibilities include:

General Ledger Management: Prepare and post journal entries, maintain the general ledger, and ensure financial records are complete and accurate.
Account Reconciliations: Perform monthly bank, credit card, and balance sheet account reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies.
Month-End & Year-End Close: Assist with month-end and year-end close processes, including preparing adjusting entries and supporting schedules.
Financial Reporting: Prepare and assist with financial statements, management reports, and supporting documentation.
Accounts Payable & Receivable Support: Assist with payment processing, invoice review, customer billing, and account reconciliations as needed.
Tax & Audit Support: Assist with preparing information for sales tax, payroll tax, and other tax filings, and provide documentation during audits.
Compliance: Maintain compliance with GAAP, internal controls, and company accounting policies.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting efficiency, and internal controls.
Cross-Functional Support: Partner with operations and leadership to provide financial information and support business decisions.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
Experience: 2+ years of accounting experience preferred, including general ledger, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
Accounting Knowledge: Strong understanding of GAAP and internal accounting controls.
Software Proficiency: Experience with QuickBooks and/or NetSuite preferred, with advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze financial data, identify discrepancies, and recommend process improvements.
Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
Problem Solving: Self-motivated with strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
