Full Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Emergency Room team in Puerto Rico. This patient-facing role is responsible for the administration of all ordered therapies and the delivery of high-quality emergency nursing care, following facility protocols, INS Standards of Practice, and applicable regulations.

Key Responsibilities

● Perform initial assessment and triage, prioritizing medical attention and measuring vital signs.

● Administer intravenous, intramuscular, oral, and other medications according to medical orders and prescriber instructions.

● Monitor vital signs, neurological status, and patient response to treatment.

● Manage wounds, hemorrhages, fractures, burns, and other medical emergencies.

● Prepare procedures and assist the physician; collaborate with specialist physicians as needed.

● Perform physical assessments on each patient as warranted, including new consults; refer to the NP on duty for complete assessments as needed.

● Complete the admission process as directed by the Center Director.

● Coordinate patient transfers when necessary.

● Accurately and promptly document all evaluation, intervention, treatment, patient responses, and critical events in the medical record.

● Report all significant changes or observations to the Center Director and follow up on any identified issues.

● Evaluate patient response to therapy and document findings in the medical record.

● Educate patients and family members regarding the therapy plan.

● Ensure all medication orders are complete, appropriate, accurate, and up to date prior to treatment.

● Comply with isolation protocols, infection control procedures, and safety measures.

● Verify proper functioning of emergency medical equipment and collaborate on supply inventory management.

● Provide emotional support to patients and their family members.

● Perform shift handoff and manage both adult and pediatric patients.

● Understand and adhere to all applicable state, local, and federal laws and regulations, including maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA.

Requirements

● ASN, ADN, or BSN in Nursing; BSN and a minimum of 3 years of related experience preferred.

● Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

● Emergency Room experience preferred.

● Current, unrestricted RN license in Puerto Rico (multi-state licensure required if providing services in multiple states).

● Active professional nursing association membership.

● Valid Health Certificate and Law 300 Certificate.

● Advanced life support certifications (ACLS, PALS).

● Up-to-date vaccination record, including Hepatitis B vaccine or signed waiver.

● Satisfactory completion of a Tuberculosis test.

● Criminal Background Check Certificate.

● Previous management experience and IV experience preferred.

Work Schedule

This is an onsite position requiring availability to work any assigned shift, including Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays. Schedules are established and communicated monthly. Shifts may be 8 or 12 hours, with potential shift times of 7:00 AM–3:00 PM, 11:00 AM–7:00 PM, and 3:00 PM–11:00 PM, subject to business needs and staffing requirements. Candidates must be available to work weekends with flexibility for any shift.

Bachelor's (Preferred)

Experience:

ASN/ADN: 2 years (Preferred)
Clinical Emergency Room: 2 years (Preferred)
nursing association membership: 1 year (Preferred)
ASL/ PALS: 1 year (Preferred)
