Phone Banker/Canvasser
Part-Time
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Phone Banker/Canvasser will engage voters through a 4.5-week nonpartisan campaign. This role is central to increasing voter turnout and engaging our community around the California Midterm Election on November 3rd, 2026. The person in this role should be strongly self-motivated and highly skilled in conversing over the phone and in person to mobilize communities of color to get involved and take action.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Voter Engagement Education
● Attend mandated trainings on phone banking to learn how to tell your personal story on the phones, at the doors, and to the media to help build a narrative that centers the role of young people in voter turnout.
Mandatory Training : September 16-17
Phone and Canvassing
● Engage voters through phone banking and canvassing efforts.
● Maintain professional and persuasive conversations with voters and peers.
● Engage voters through door-to-door canvassing sessions.
● Will document voter contact data and report on a daily basis to the lead staff.
JOB REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect effectively with
diverse people over the phone.
● Interest in empowering community members and youth through civic engagement
and community organizing.
● Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
● Ability to work well individually and in a team setting.
● Strong work ethic, punctuality, and integrity.
● Self-motivated, resourceful, and creative.
● Previous phone banking experience is preferred but not required.
● Bilingual in English and Spanish and/or an Indigenous language or other languages is
preferred.
SCHEDULES
Our work schedules vary, primarily according to our programming schedule. Phone banking will take place Monday through Friday from 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, September 21- October 16. We will then switch to door-to-door canvassing from Oct 19- Oct 30
Nov 2- Nov3 , 4:00 pm to 8:30 pm, combination of Phonebanking and Poll Monitoring

Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions. During canvass days, you will be walking long distances. We will provide water and snacks.
REPORTS TO: Field Manager
LOCATION: Our phonebanking location will be located in Thousand Oaks, where we will make phone calls. Our canvass area will be Thousand Oaks, Moorpark and Camarillo.
STATUS: PART-TIME, NON-EXEMPT, TEMPORARY
COMPENSATION/CONTRACT TERMS: $23 per hour with 20-25 hours of work per week. The contract period will be from 9/16/26 to 11/6/26. Those interested must be available for the on-boarding week of 9/14/26. Those under the age of 18 will need to provide a worker's permit from their school district. If you are interested in driving other phonebankers/canvassers, you will receive a $10 stipend per day.
