Full Job Description

Based in Camarillo, CA, our organization has maintained a strong presence in the automotive sector since 1967. We operate across three facilities with a workforce of 60 professionals and a fleet of approximately 35 CNC machines, all focused on delivering high-quality components for a premier automotive industry leader.

We are looking for a skilled Engineering Manager to guide our engineering staff and facilitate the movement of products from the R&D phase into full-scale manufacturing. This position reports to the Owner and requires a blend of project management, technical oversight, and cross-departmental coordination to ensure that all products are optimized for manufacturing, adhere to strict quality benchmarks, and launch successfully.

As a hands-on leader, you will be responsible for mentoring our expanding engineering group, overseeing various projects simultaneously, and acting as the central point of contact between our customers, vendors, and internal production and quality departments.

Work Schedule

Typical work weeks range from 40 to 50 hours, with a start time around 7 AM.
Enjoy a schedule that includes every other Friday off.

Core Responsibilities

Provide technical direction and coaching to help our engineering staff and interns reach their full professional potential.
Oversee the successful completion of 5–15 concurrent projects by managing timelines and key deliverables.
Facilitate a smooth transition for products as they move from the research phase into active production.
Utilize SolidWorks to create mechanical designs and assemblies while ensuring all documentation and revisions remain accurate.
Improve overall product quality and cost-effectiveness by consistently applying Design for Manufacturability (DFM) standards.
Work alongside manufacturing and quality teams to ensure seamless support for both new product launches and existing lines.
Design necessary tooling and CMM fixtures to meet our internal manufacturing and quality standards.
Verify that all engineering blueprints are accurate and meet established GD&T requirements.
Represent the engineering department in customer meetings to translate requirements into actionable project plans.
Serve as the primary technical liaison to resolve issues and support development with our external partners and vendors.
Ensure product compliance and performance by assisting the quality team with validation activities.
Uphold our ISO quality standards by maintaining rigorous engineering documentation.
Enhance our manufacturing efficiency and product quality by championing continuous improvement projects.
Assist the production floor with technical troubleshooting and the implementation of engineering changes.
Provide guidance to manufacturing and inspection teams to ensure successful product transitions and launches.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field.
At least 5 years of advanced, professional experience working with SolidWorks.
Extensive expertise in mechanical design and the full product development lifecycle.
Proven track record of guiding engineering projects from initial concept to final production.
Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and supervise engineering personnel.
Comprehensive knowledge of Design for Manufacturability (DFM) methodologies.
Advanced proficiency in Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T).
Experience managing revision control and producing detailed engineering drawings.
Competency in using precision tools like micrometers, calipers, and various gauges.
Strong organizational, project management, and communication abilities.
Capacity to handle multiple tasks simultaneously within a fast-paced production setting.

Preferred Qualifications

Background working within the aerospace or automotive manufacturing sectors.
Familiarity with ISO quality documentation and systems.
Experience utilizing ERP software, with a preference for Epicor.
Ability to develop production routers, manufacturing methods, and setup instructions.
Experience in the design of CMM fixtures and specialized tooling.
Understanding of manufacturing support and product validation procedures.
