Youth Development Professional

Job Description

TITLE: Youth Development Professional (YDP)

DEPARTMENT: Program Development

REPORTS TO: Director of Programs

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

Salary: $20 per hour

Must be 18 years or older

PRIMARY FUNCTION:

The Youth Development Professional’s responsibility is to supervise and oversee club members in an academic setting. The YDP will assist, guide, and support club members with their academics. Applicant must be available to work afternoons Monday through Friday.

KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):

Prepare Youth for Success

Plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate activities in the core areas of Education, Arts & Crafts, and Recreation
Supervise activities of members, while reinforcing positive attitudes and social skills
Assist members in school’s academic programs
Provide guidance and role modeling
Ensure quality improvement and promote stimulating participation
Provide support to Director of Youth Services, other site staff, and volunteers

Health & Safety

Ensure a healthy and safe environment for all members at all times
Maintain a clean and disinfected workplace

Administrative

Provide administrative support
Maintain the classroom calendars

RELATIONSHIPS:

Internal: Maintain contact with the leadership team to exchange information, seek and give assistance, consultation and direction.

External: Maintains contact with the community/parents. Establish and maintain positive relationships with members’ parents/guardians.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

Communication skills - excellent verbal and written.
People-oriented -- enjoys interacting with people and working on group projects
Adaptable/flexible -- enjoys doing work that requires frequent shifts in direction
Autonomous/Independent -- enjoys working with little direction

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Typically works in an indoor and outdoor environment with mostly walking & standing. Ability to lift at least 20 pounds. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in work priorities, ability to prioritize tasks, ability to maintain confidentiality.
