Full Job Description

Job Overview
Join our dynamic team as an Outdoor Education Instructor, where your passion for nature, education, and youth development will inspire and empower students through engaging outdoor experiences. The class is schedule for Fridays during the school year. In this role, you will lead outdoor activities, facilitate experiential learning, and foster a safe, inclusive environment that promotes growth, curiosity, and a love for the natural world. This paid position offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your skills in education, child development, and outdoor leadership.

Duties

Design and deliver engaging outdoor lessons and activities that align with educational standards and promote experiential learning.
Supervise and ensure the safety of children and youth during outdoor excursions, camp activities, and recreational events.
Implement behavior management strategies to maintain a positive and respectful environment for all participants.
Collaborate with colleagues to plan curriculum that incorporates environmental education, team-building exercises, and physical activity.
Provide first aid and emergency response when necessary, maintaining safety protocols at all times.
Support children’s social-emotional development through positive reinforcement, Christian counseling principles (if applicable), and inclusive practices.
Maintain clear communication with parents, guardians, or program coordinators regarding participant progress and safety concerns.

Requirements

Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, camp counseling, tutoring, or childcare is highly preferred.
Strong classroom management skills to foster a respectful and engaging learning environment outdoors.
Certification in first aid and CPR; additional certifications in special education or behavior management are advantageous.
Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education best practices.
Ability to lead sports coaching sessions, theater activities, or other recreational programs that promote physical activity and creativity.
Excellent communication skills to work effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and community partners.
Passion for outdoor education, environmental stewardship, and fostering positive youth experiences through hands-on learning. Pay: $35.00 - $45.00 per hour
