Since transitioning to a fully independent, self-operated model, the Windham Southeast Supervisory Union (WSESU) School Nutrition Program has been building a team rooted deeply in community, culinary skill, and local agricultural partnership. From serving historic numbers of summer meals to delivering local sourdough rolls and introducing culturally diverse menus our kitchens are vibrant hubs of creativity and care.If you are a culinary leader who believes that healthy, sustainably produced food can change a student's life and fuel a community, we want you to lead one of our teams.The Mission: What You'll DoAs the School Nutrition Site Manager (SNSM), you will oversee the daily operations of a school cafeteria, stepping away from processed heat-and-serve boxes and stepping up to true kitchen leadership. You will exercise independent judgment to create a safe, collaborative, and welcoming environment.Lead the Scratch Cooking Movement: Oversee daily scratch meal preparation, baking, and recipe conversions.

Youll collaborate on menu development featuring local proteins, grains, and fresh produce.Champion Farm-to-School Initiatives: We aim to source heavily from local farms. Youll work directly with local food partners and the farm-to-school program, incorporating fresh harvests into USDA-compliant school meals.Empower and Motivate Your Team: Supervise, train, and inspire cafeteria staff to take pride in their culinary skills, knife safety, and presentation.Manage the Business of Food: From food purchasing, inventory, and point-of-sale software to administering Federal Child Nutrition Programs, youll keep operations seamless and compliant.Cater & Connect: Coordinate special school events and off-site catering while actively engaging with students to foster positive, joyful food experiences.WSESU supports opportunities for your continuing education, including 10 CEUs annually through the Agency of Education Child Nutrition Programs.
