Full Job Description

Essex Westford School District (EWSD) has opportunities for a full-time Coordinator of Restorative Practices to join our team at Essex High School beginning in the 2026-2027 school year. This position is open until filled, candidates who appply before July 8, 2026 will receive initial consideration.

This role leads and coordinates restorative practices at Essex High School to strengthen relationships, repair harm, improve school climate, increase student access to learning, and promote the EHS values of being Engaged, Honest, and Safe.

This position combines direct work with students, families, and staff with leadership of schoolwide restorative systems. The Coordinator facilitates restorative responses to conflict, supports student accountability and successful re-entry, coaches staff in restorative and trauma-informed practices, collaborates with school and family partners, uses data to evaluate and strengthen restorative systems, and provides leadership and supervision to campus support personnel.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Facilitates Tier I community-building opportunities with students and staff to strengthen classroom and schoolwide relationships
Coordinates and facilitates Tier II conflict resolution meetings and restorative problem-solving processes involving students, staff, and families as appropriate.
Facilitates Tier II and Tier III restorative conferences, conflict-resolution meetings, harm-repair processes and re-entry meetings as needed.
Works directly with students involved in conflict, behavioral incidents, attendance concerns, or disciplinary processes to support reflection, accountability, relationship repair, and successful re-engagement in learning.
Pairs students with the appropriate MTSS intervention as a next step when appropriate in collaboration with PLT team.
Work collaboratively with administrators, district office staff, Equity coordinator, SEL coordinator and other building-level staff.
Create and update new and existing restorative materials including but not limited to: a menu of educational options/modules for interventions after hazing, harassment, and bullying incidents occur, language and prompts for teachers to support students when conflict occurs, a menu of SEL/equity modules in collaboration with SEL and Equity coach.
Works with administration to create new professional development materials/agendas, using our community partner resources as needed.
Deliver professional development and coaching to build capacity and the number of people at the school trained and willing to facilitate Tier II conferences.
Builds and maintains positive relationships with students, staff, parents, guardians, administration, and community partners.
Collaborates with the assigned PLT team to identify needs and areas of support including classrooms, individual students, and other groups within the building.Coordinates with leadership to adjust and prioritize as needs arise within the building.
Participates in school-wide faculty, department, and PLT meetings as well as additional meetings with community partners and district leadership as needed.
Collaborates with EWSD and EHS leadership and staff for the purpose of designing professional development opportunities and aligned with the school-wide goal of implementing and maintaining restorative practices.
Collaborates with and provides leadership to the Campus Support Specialist and Student Engagement Specialist to review student data, coordinate interventions and restorative responses, monitor outcomes, and adjust supports as needed.
Supervises campus support personnel by coordinating daily assignments, overseeing behavior support planning, facilitating data meetings, and leading professional learning and other department initiatives.

Contribute towards creating and maintaining a positive, friendly, respectful, inclusive and professional work environment.
Adhere to all federal and state laws and regulations as it pertains to position responsibilities; adhere to all district policies, procedures, operating practices, workplace rules, code of conduct and reasonable directives of the supervisor.
Keep up-to-date with current best practices in their field; modify systems and practices as necessary to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:

Minimum of three (3) years’ professional experience working with adolescents in an educational, behavioral health, counseling, social work, restorative practices, or student support setting.
Bachelor's degree in Education, School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, Educational Leadership, Human Services, or a closely related field.
Strong background in education required.
Experience facilitating restorative circles, restorative conferences, conflict resolution, and harm-repair processes.
Experience supporting students with behavioral, attendance, social-emotional, and engagement challenges.
Previous teaching/school administrative experience and/or strong background in supporting at-risk populations using a restorative lens.
Demonstrated capability of instructing, motivating, and managing teachers, coaches, and a team.
Strong knowledge base in Social and Emotional Learning strategies and best practices.
High expectations for students and families in low-income communities.
Strong organizational abilities.
Must be able to meet deadlines.
Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to education, labor, and industry.
Able to effectively handle conflict and stress; able to remain calm and professional when challenged.
