Technical Reviewer & Auditor – Meat, Dairy & Food Manufacturing

Location: Des Plaines, IL (Travel Required)

About IFANCA

The Islamic Food and Nutrition Council of America (IFANCA) is a nonprofit organization and one of the world's leading Halal certification bodies. Since 1982, IFANCA has provided internationally recognized Halal certification services to the food, beverage, meat, dairy, pharmaceutical, nutraceutical, cosmetic, and ingredient industries.

Position Summary

IFANCA is seeking an experienced Technical Reviewer & Auditor with expertise in meat and poultry processing, dairy manufacturing, nutraceuticals, slaughterhouse operations, food safety systems, and FDA/USDA regulations.

This position is responsible for conducting technical reviews of certification applications, evaluating ingredients and manufacturing processes, and performing on-site Halal audits to ensure compliance with IFANCA's Halal certification standards.

Key Responsibilities

Review certification applications, product formulations, ingredients, and technical documentation.
Conduct on-site audits of meat, poultry, dairy, nutraceutical, ingredient, and food manufacturing facilities.
Evaluate slaughterhouse operations and verify compliance with Halal requirements.
Assess compliance with FDA, USDA/FSIS, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
Prepare technical audit reports and certification recommendations.
Manage technical records, ingredient classifications, and certification documentation.
Travel domestically and internationally as required.

Qualifications

Required

Practicing Muslim with a thorough understanding of Islamic dietary laws and Halal certification principles.
Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Meat Science, Dairy Science, Animal Science, Biology, Chemistry, Microbiology, Nutrition, Veterinary Medicine, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related scientific field.
Minimum 3-5 years of experience in food manufacturing, meat or poultry processing, dairy, nutraceuticals, food safety, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, or Halal certification.
Knowledge of FDA, USDA/FSIS, HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations.
Strong technical writing, analytical, and communication skills.
Ability to travel for facility audits.

Preferred

Experience auditing slaughterhouses or meat processing facilities.
HACCP, PCQI, Lead Auditor, SQF, BRCGS, or similar food safety certifications.
