POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for working with wholesale food product distributors and aftermarket distributors to purchase food and general merchandise at discounted rates to have available for our Members in our MSGP at each of our campuses. This role would be responsible for inventory control, product handling fees, product merchandising and promotions. The Purchasing Coordinator would collaborate with the procurement team to identify product needs, par levels, to provide an extensive mix of available product at the sites for the members of the program.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
Manage inventory on all company warehouse/site supplies including: ordering, fulfilling site supply orders from warehouse inventory and ensure delivery on our trucks in a timely manner, processing invoicing, communicating any supplier sales and shopping between approved vendors to ensure we are continually achieving the most cost effective supplier to help monitor expenses.
Determining current inventory at each of the sites and the warehouse and implementing a strategy for managing the flow of inventory.
Creating, managing and keeping current the wholesale distributor database while identifying new suppliers.
Collaborating with Director Procurement, Logistics & POS to ensure that we are not purchasing procured product.
Creating product categories and working with the Director Procurement, Logistics & POS and Director of MSGP to determine product layout, par levels, and order.
Creating and executing orders with distributors for the purchase of product with favorable terms and pricing for the organization.
Determining product coding for tracking in POS system for reporting.
Determining minimum Handling fees on purchased product to ensure return on investment and distribute to MSGP.
Collaborating with internal departments to create merchandising and promotions to sourced product at the sites.
Working with Director Procurement, Logistics & POS to ensure that the items distributed meet all established food safety guidelines and that they are appropriate for our grocery program.
Managing all aspects of relationships with distributors. Engaging them in multiple ways including volunteering, financial donations, advocacy, and sponsorships.
Creating and maintaining purchased product reports to update Corporate, MSGP, and Procurement teams analyzing and summarizing data. Ensuring that department goals and objectives are being met and exceeded.
Communicating all scheduled pickups and deliveries and document bills of lading.
Participating and/or leading any other department initiative as needed. ESSENTIALS THAT WILL MAKE YOU SUCCESSFUL
- Previous purchasing/procurement experience (required).
- Strong communication skills and leadership skills.
- Strong technology, computer skills, and knowledge of POS and inventory systems is also required.
- Ability to multi-task effectively within a rapidly changing environment.
- Positive attitude even in the face of adversity.
- Effective decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a similar procurement, grocery, product purchasing or food procurement role.
- Strong technology, computer skills. Knowledge of POS and inventory systems is also required.
- Ability to multi-task effectively within a rapidly changing environment.

- Effective decision making, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. PHYSICAL WORK REQUIREMENTS Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time and move frequently throughout the day. Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer as needed. Must have access to a personal vehicle and possess a valid driver’s license and good driving record (as this is a frequently driving position). Ability to bend, push, pull and lift items of 25lbs or more required.
