Schedule: 0.50 FTE (20 hours per week)
Work Schedule: Monday–Friday
The Translator/Interpreter supports the Verona Area School District by translating critical school and district documents (e.g., parent notifications, IEPs, program materials) between English and Spanish and coordinating third-party services for other languages. This district-wide role also provides in-person and oral interpretation for families during key events like parent meetings, conferences, and Back to School events to ensure equitable access to educational information.
What You'll Do
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Translate district-wide, level-specific (elementary, middle, high school), and Student Services/Special Education documents into Spanish
Provide direct interpretation for non-English speaking families during meetings, district events, and conferences
Organize and maintain electronic data storage for translated files, coordinate with other language service providers, and assist staff with standardizing translated materials district-wide
Qualifications
Associate degree required; Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent from a target language country) preferred
Background in school settings/systems and experience in translation/interpreting preferred
High-quality verbal and written proficiency in English and Spanish; superior proficiency preferred. Understanding of Hispanic/Latino cultural norms preferred
Detail-oriented, strong organization, ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality, and comfortable working under deadlines with minimal supervision
Preference will be given to candidates with an Interpreter Certificate
