Full Job Description

The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy, St Thomas is seeking an experienced pharmacy technician to join our team. We are a small business that prides ourselves in providing quality care to patients in our community. We are looking for friendly and caring team members who share our passion to serve our patients and help them live a healthier life.

As a Pharmacy Clerk or Technician, you would be part of a collaborative team whose energy, creativity, and communication are valued. Since we are a fast paced, high service pharmacy, we are seeking someone who is energetic, self-motivated, and flexible. The Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy Technicians hold the important role of helping patients get the most out of their medication therapy. This entails patient calls for medication synchronization and nutritional depletion.

Necessary: Ideal candidate will have healthcare experience, customer service experience, basic computer and data entry skills, experience in filling medications for pharmacist review, ability to take instructions and delivery accurately, punctual, energetic, excellent teamwork, holds confidentiality as a high priority, and have the ability to work with little supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

Process prescription and retail sales using the pharmacy POS system.
Greet customers with a smile and in friendly manner
Obtain client payments, verify date of birth, and correctly dispense meds.
Accurately uses and maintain a cash register via POS system.
Fills the waiting prescription baskets
Upholds the patient’s confidentiality and uses discretion with patient material and information.
Follows processes for upholding pharmacy standards and best practices, including documentation, proper storage of drugs, checking expiration dates, etc.
Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisors or pharmacists.

Skills/Competencies:

Excellent customer service skills
High attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Basic computer and data entry skills
Ability to deal with public in a tactful manner.

Education:

High school or equivalent (required)
Pharmacy Technician Certification (preferred)

Experience:

Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality practices (required)
Customer Service: 1 year (required)
Healthcare Experience: 1 year (required)

***Each applicant must do a background check at the police department and show proof of their criminal record at the interview.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
