Full Job Description

Job Overview
Join our dedicated team as a Direct Care Staff member, where your compassionate support and hands-on assistance will make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with diverse needs. In this role, you will provide personalized care, promote independence, and ensure a safe, respectful environment for residents across various care settings. Your energetic and proactive approach will help foster a positive atmosphere that encourages growth, dignity, and well-being for those you serve.

Duties

Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote comfort and independence
Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to support health assessments
Administer medications following prescribed protocols while maintaining accurate documentation using MARS.
Provide specialized care for residents with I/DD and Mental Illness implementing memory care strategies and behavior management techniques
Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and hydration to ensure nutritional needs are met
Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts safely to prevent injury during transfers and mobility assistance
Maintain a clean and safe environment by performing light housekeeping duties in accordance with health standards
Support residents’ social engagement by encouraging participation in activities and facilitating social interactions within the community

Qualifications

Experience working with individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD), mental health conditions, physical disabilities, or older adults preferred
Knowledge of person-centered care, trauma-informed approaches, and behavioral support strategies
Ability to support individuals with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal hygiene, mobility, meal preparation, and medication reminders
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and maintain professional boundaries
Ability to recognize and respond appropriately to mental health and behavioral crises
Basic understanding of aging-related conditions such as dementia, mobility limitations, and chronic health issues
Physical ability to assist with lifting, transferring, and mobility support as needed
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (if required for the role)
Current CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire)
Ability to pass background checks, drug screening, and any required health clearances
Demonstrated reliability, patience, empathy, and a commitment to supporting diverse populations
