Full Job Description

For over 40 years, Portadam’s temporary cofferdam equipment has enabled contractors to perform their in-water work in a dry condition. The temporary cofferdam equipment is also used as above ground water storage for industrial and hydrofracking applications.

We are seeking a Cofferdam Estimator to join our team based out of our Williamstown, New Jersey manufacturing and warehousing facility to support our rapidly growing, industry-leading company’s expansion across North America. This role is commission-eligible.

Job Overview:
The Cofferdam Estimator will be responsible for conducting comprehensive site surveys, developing detailed quotes, and outlining labor requirements for Portadam Water Diversion & Containment projects. This role requires a deep understanding of site and geographic risks, especially those associated with works on rivers and waterways. The Cofferdam Estimator will collaborate closely with Territory Managers, Engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure accurate and competitive project estimates.

Key Responsibilities:

Site Surveys or Management or those performing Surveys:

Conduct thorough site surveys to assess project requirements.
Evaluate site conditions, existing infrastructure, and other critical factors.
Identify potential challenges or obstacles that may impact project timelines and costs

Quoting:

Develop accurate and detailed project quotes based on site surveys, plans, and specifications.
Utilization of Marine Equipment Solutions CRM and Quoting Tools to Work with operations and contractors to obtain competitive pricing for materials and services.
Present and explain quotes to clients, addressing any questions or concerns.

Labor Outlining:

Analyze labor requirements for each project, considering site-specific challenges.
Create detailed labor plans, including manpower needs, timelines, and potential overtime.
Collaborate with HR and project management to ensure appropriate staffing levels.

Risk Identification:

Identify and evaluate site or geographic risks, including environmental, regulatory, and safety concerns.
Assess risks specific to works on rivers and waterways, such as flooding, erosion, and water quality.
Develop risk mitigation strategies and include them in project estimates.

Specialized Works:

Oversee estimation for projects involving rivers, waterways, and other aquatic environments for water diversion, retention, or dams.
Ensure compliance with relevant environmental regulations and best practices.
Coordinate with environmental engineers and regulatory bodies as needed.

Collaboration & Communication:

Work closely with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on project scope and objectives.
Communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members to ensure a clear understanding of project expectations.
Participate in project meetings, providing insights and recommendations based on estimates.

Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of all estimates, site surveys, and related documentation.
Prepare reports and presentations for internal and client-facing purposes.
Continuously update and refine estimating processes and tools to improve accuracy and efficiency.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in construction estimating, with a focus on site surveys and project quoting.
Proven experience in estimating projects involving rivers, waterways, or similar environments.
Strong understanding of labor planning, risk assessment, and project management principles.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Proficiency in estimating software and tools related to work.
Proficiency in Dodge Analytics or equivalent
Knowledge of environmental regulations and safety standards related to construction on waterways.
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.

Working Conditions:

Primarily office-based, with potential travel to project sites or trade shows as required.
Occasional work in outdoor environments, including construction sites and waterways.
Flexibility to work extended hours during peak project periods.

Travel:

Position may require travel up to 50% depending on site requirements.
Travel is not a requirement if qualified field assessors are available
