We specialize in delivering accurate, reliable, and confidential documentation services to corporations, condominium boards, associations, committees, government entities, and nonprofit organizations. Our firm provides in-person coverage for meetings across the United States and Canada, as well as comprehensive remote minute-taking and court reporting services for clients worldwide via virtual meeting platforms and secure video conferencing.
We are seeking certified court reporters to join our legal services division on contract basis.
Job Title: Court Reporter (In person)
Job Summary
As a Court Reporter with Minutes Services, you will be responsible for creating a complete, accurate, and verbatim record of legal proceedings conducted remotely. This role requires advanced listening skills, mastery of legal terminology, and the ability to produce certified transcripts in accordance with legal and ethical standards. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, dependable, and comfortable working independently in a virtual environment.
Responsibilities
- Attend and report live legal proceedings, including hearings, depositions, and other formal legal events in the DMV Area.
- Capture a verbatim record of all spoken dialogue, including identifying speakers, noting non-verbal actions when required, and handling interruptions or overlapping speech
- Provide real-time reporting when requested
- Prepare, edit, and deliver certified transcripts within required deadlines
- Maintain and securely store stenographic notes, digital files, and transcripts in accordance with confidentiality and legal standards
- Read back portions of testimony upon request during proceedings
- Manage assigned reporting schedules and communicate professionally with legal staff and Minutes Services coordinators
- Accurately research and verify unfamiliar legal terminology, names, and technical language
Qualifications and Requirements
- Current certification as a Court Reporter (RPR or equivalent required)
- Ability to write at speeds of 200+ words per minute with a high level of accuracy
- Proficiency with stenotype machines and Computer-Aided Transcription (CAT) software
- Strong working knowledge of legal terminology, court procedures, and professional ethics
- Excellent command of English grammar, spelling, and punctuation
- Exceptional attention to detail and editing skills
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
- Reliable high-speed internet connection and a quiet, professional workspace
- You must have your own court reporting equipment and computer
- Experience providing real-time reporting in virtual legal settings
- Prior experience preparing certified transcripts for appeals or formal filings
- Familiarity with secure file transfer and digital record management
