Part-time Program Officer, Liberty's Promise
Liberty's Promise () is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting low-income, immigrant youth, ages 11-21, through our after-school civic engagement programs and professional internship programs. We are currently seeking an energetic and dedicated part-time Program Officer to run our Civics and Citizenship after-school program in Loudoun County at one LCPS high school (exact location TBD). The successful candidate will work 20 hours/week implementing the organization’s civic engagement program at the school, building connections in the community to support our programming and youth, and aiding in fundraising efforts through occasional grant writing and editing. Approximately 3 hours per week will be on-site at the high school, and the remaining hours will be virtual, with some required in-person trainings or supervisor check-ins as needed. All applicants must have substantial and successful experience working with adolescents, preferably in a multicultural environment. Applicants must have oral and written fluency in English and Spanish. Due to necessary travel between program sites, applicants should have reliable transportation. The position is open until filled.
In our after-school programs, we teach youth about American civic life, the college application process, and how to apply for employment, while encouraging them to become involved in the community. We implement this curriculum through games, field trips, and interactive activities. In this role, creativity is key. Many youth in our Loudoun County programs have recently arrived in the United States, so a successful program officer should be an empathetic listener and culturally sensitive to their lived experiences.
